A Battle Isaac’s Family Always Knew Could Come

Isaac had Fanconi anemia, an inherited condition caused by gene mutations that can lead to physical differences, blood disorders, and a significantly elevated risk of cancer. When Coleman first announced Isaac’s stage 3 mouth cancer diagnosis in December, he was heartbreakingly honest about what the family had long prepared for.

“TBH, we always knew this day was coming, as it’s a near certainty w/ Fanconi anemia. But it’s definitely hitting a little earlier than we hoped and is still just such a shocking thing to hear about your child, even if you’ve braced for it for years,” he wrote at the time.

By April, Coleman shared that Isaac’s cancer had continued to spread aggressively and that the family had shifted to a comfort-focused approach. Isaac had entered hospice care, with a palliative radiation round underway to slow the growth of a large mass under his right eye. “Mindy and I are heartbroken watching him decline, knowing how frustrating and scary this must be for him. But we’re trying to hold it all together & keep soaking up the time we still have with our boy,” Coleman wrote then.

Ms. Rachel Rallies the Parent Community

The outpouring of support has been immediate. Ms. Rachel — Rachel Accurso, whose own show regularly appears alongside Danny Go! in the Netflix Top 10 for children’s programming — took to Instagram to ask her community to show up for the Coleman family.

“Hi wonderful parent and caregiver community — Please send so much love and so many thoughts and prayers to Danny Go and his beautiful family,” she wrote. “Danny’s precious son passed away. We are so sorry for their loss and are thinking about their son’s amazing joy and their immense pride.”

Coleman launched the Danny Go YouTube channel in 2021, and it has grown to more than 4.5 million subscribers. Two Cancers in Less Than Two Years

To understand where Coulier is now, you have to go back to October 2024, when he revealed on NBC’s Today show that he’d been diagnosed with an aggressive form of stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma. It was a gut punch — but he fought through it, and by March 2025, he told Parade he was in remission.

Then came the second diagnosis.

In late 2025, Coulier learned he had HPV-related P16-positive oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma — a head and neck cancer found at the base of his tongue. He told Today host Craig Melvin in December 2025 exactly what that felt like: “To go through chemotherapy and feel that relief of ‘Whoa, it’s gone,’ and then to get a test that says, ‘Well, now you’ve got another kind of cancer’ … it is a shock to the system.”

He began radiation therapy immediately. And the physical changes fans have been seeing are a direct result of that treatment. Researchers at MD Anderson Cancer Center have documented how radiation for oropharyngeal cancers can scar or damage the voice box, resulting in a hoarse, raspy, or weak voice. Trouble swallowing — a condition called dysphagia — is also a known side effect, which explains the months without solid food.

Good News in the Latest Scans

But Coulier didn’t just show up to deliver hard news. He had something hopeful to share too.

“We got our PET scans back, and the prognosis looks good for both the carcinoma in my throat and the lymphoma,” he said. “We’re very pleased with all of that.”

His hair is starting to grow back. He’s been making artwork, doing creative writing, and working on AwearMarket.com, an online marketplace he founded to curate non-toxic products. Life, slowly, is coming back.

Just nine months later, during a routine six-month checkup and PET scans, doctors discovered an enlarged tumor. Coulier initially assumed it was a flare-up of his lymphoma. It wasn’t. The tumor turned out to be HPV-related oropharyngeal tongue cancer — a completely separate diagnosis. The American Cancer Society estimates that around 53,000 people are diagnosed with this type of cancer each year, and it can cause a persistent sore throat, hoarseness, earaches, and difficulty swallowing.

Coulier underwent 35 rounds of targeted radiation to fight it. In February, he appeared on Good Morning America to announce he was in remission from both cancers.

“It’s been a roller-coaster ride for sure,” he told GMA at the time. “I’m in remission with both cancers. And what a journey this has been.”

But Thursday’s video made clear that being in remission doesn’t mean the fight is over. The radiation left him unable to eat, stripped his voice, and changed his appearance in ways his followers couldn’t help but notice.

On The Kelly Clarkson Show in April, Coulier explained what sent him down that path. “I wanted to know, ‘Why did my lymphatic system crash?’ And I realized as I went down the rabbit hole, everything in my life was toxic,” he said. “My toothpaste, my shampoo, the garbage bags, the toilet paper, everything, skin cream, everything.”

His solution was simple — start small. “I said, ‘I need to change this, but how do I do it?’ It’s a pretty daunting task to change your lifestyle like that. So I changed one thing. I replaced my toothpaste. And I thought, ‘I put that in my mouth every day, I’m gonna start there.'”

He’s also been vocal about the importance of listening to your body. In an interview with Fox News Digital, Coulier credited his wife Melissa — and his own decision not to dismiss the warning signs — with saving his life. “I was taking a shower one morning and felt a lump in my groin area,” he recalled. “Had I not taken the step to call my doctor, at the urging of my wife — she said, ‘We’re calling now, and making that appointment’ — things would have been much different.”

“Cancer is working out in the background every day,” he added. “It’s getting stronger and stronger. So you have to be willing to put your pride aside and be a little vulnerable and go in and talk to someone who is an expert.”

His Full House costar John Stamos, who has been by his side throughout, said it best last December. “He’s Dave and he’s beautiful,” Stamos, 62, said. “It sounds weird, but if anyone would have to go through this, he’s a good one because he can really inspire and talk to the world and show that with good will and love, you can make it through.”
