BTS are back — and they’re taking everything with them.

The South Korean megagroup won Artist of the Year at the 2026 American Music Awards on Monday night, capping a triumphant return to the AMAs stage with a sweep of all three categories they were nominated in. They also took Song of the Summer for “Swim” and Best Male K-Pop Artist, opening the show with a pretaped performance from their Arirang World Tour at Allegiant Stadium before storming the stage live midway through the telecast.

“Everyone is belting out their songs during commercial breaks,” Yahoo’s Taryn Ryder reported from inside the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. “I don’t know the last time I’ve seen anything like this at an awards show.”

Cardi B Made History

The Bronx rapper swept hip-hop clean. Cardi B won Best Female Hip-Hop Artist, Best Hip-Hop Song for “ErrTime,” and Best Hip-Hop Album for Am I The Drama? — her long-awaited sophomore album that debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 after seven years of fans waiting. With three Best Hip-Hop Song wins across her career, she’s now the most decorated rapper in AMA hip-hop song history.

Kendrick Lamar took Best Male Hip-Hop Artist off the strength of GNX, and SZA won Best Female R&B Artist for the second consecutive year.

Sabrina Carpenter’s Pop Coronation

Sabrina Carpenter claimed Album of the Year for Man’s Best Friend, plus Best Female Pop Artist and Best Pop Album — her first AMA victories ever. The sweep demonstrated the fan connection she’s built over the past year, one that’s translated into genuine chart dominance.

Bruno Mars reasserted himself in R&B with three wins: Best Male R&B Artist, Best R&B Song, and Best R&B Album.

K-Pop’s Takeover Is Complete

It wasn’t just BTS. KATSEYE won New Artist of the Year plus Best Music Video for “Gnarly” and Breakthrough Pop Artist in their first year of eligibility. HUNTR/X featuring EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami took Song of the Year for “Golden” and Best Vocal Performance. The K-pop and K-pop-adjacent presence across the winners list was impossible to miss — a sign of just how far fan-voted shows have tilted toward global audiences.

Queen Latifah Ran the Night

Queen Latifah hosted the 52nd AMAs, returning 31 years after she first co-hosted alongside Tom Jones and Lorrie Morgan in 1995. She wore a floor-length fur coat on the red carpet in 94-degree Vegas heat and brought the room together between a delightfully strange mix of performances: nostalgia from Hootie & the Blowfish and New Kids on the Block with Keith Urban and Billy Idol, balanced against the now of Karol G, Maluma, Teddy Swims, Teyana Taylor, and Twenty One Pilots.

The AMAs partnered with 11 military and veterans’ services organizations this year, with Latifah and Darius Rucker sharing tributes to active-duty service members throughout the broadcast.

BTS closed the night where they started it — center stage, holding the biggest trophy of them all.

Cardi B made a surprise appearance at Stefon Diggs’ Diggs Deep Foundation Mother’s Day wellness event in Washington, D.C.

The two were photographed kissing, embracing, and giving off undeniable flirty energy — despite a reported breakup earlier this year.

The reunion comes just days after Diggs was found not guilty on felony strangulation and misdemeanor assault charges related to his former personal chef.

The pair share a son born in November 2025; Cardi also has three children with ex-husband Offset.

Neither Cardi nor Diggs has confirmed whether they are officially back together.

Cardi B and Stefon Diggs gave fans a lot to talk about on Mother’s Day weekend — and not just because of the charity work.

The rapper made a surprise appearance at Diggs’ Diggs Deep Foundation Mother’s Day wellness event in Washington, D.C. on Saturday, May 9, and the two wasted no time reminding everyone exactly why people were rooting for them in the first place. Diggs dipped Cardi in front of a pink backdrop and kissed her on the cheek as photographers snapped away. Even after the cameras stopped, the energy didn’t cool down — Cardi was spotted running her hand across his chest, the kind of casual intimacy that’s hard to fake.

According to reporters who were there, the two made a point of personally greeting every mother in attendance, taking a moment to chat with each one. It wasn’t just a photo op — it was a real interaction that left the room buzzing.

The internet, predictably, lost it.

A Lot Has Happened Since Their Split

Cardi and Diggs went public as a couple in May 2025 and welcomed a son together in November of that year. By February, rumors of a split were swirling — and while neither of them ever made a formal announcement, the signs were hard to ignore.

But even after things reportedly fell apart, Cardi made it clear she wasn’t going to let anyone else talk sideways about her baby’s father. When rapper BIA took a shot at Diggs during their ongoing feud — writing on social media, “Can u name someone with more bms than receiving yards? I can!” — Cardi fired back from the stage at her Los Angeles tour stop. “Let me tell you somethin’, just because I ain’t f—in’ with my baby daddy doesn’t mean you get to talk about my baby daddy, b–!” she told the crowd. “This for you, b–!”

Protective, even in the middle of a breakup. That’s a tell.

There were other signs, too. Diggs attended Cardi’s Washington, D.C. stop on her Little Miss Drama tour last month alongside his mother and brother, with videos showing the group dancing in the crowd. He was later spotted backstage during another tour stop with Cardi’s son. And then there were the clips of the two of them leaving the same D.C. nightclub together after the show.

Cardi also stirred things up onstage during that D.C. concert when she jokingly referenced a “Maryland” man putting her “on my back” — a comment fans immediately clocked as a reference to Diggs, who is from Gaithersburg, Maryland. When blogs ran with it, she shut the speculation down quickly. “Dear blogs, when I perform a song I always introduce the song with a lil razzle dazzle,” she wrote online. “Not everything is a shot or personal. I’m actually repeating lyrics from the songs…Relax.”

And when photos from the Mother’s Day event surfaced, her response to fans making a big deal of it was equally unbothered: “Like yall the funniest people ever.”

The Acquittal That Changed Everything

The Mother’s Day reunion didn’t happen in a vacuum. Just days earlier, on May 5, Diggs was found not guilty on all charges — felony strangulation and misdemeanor assault and battery — stemming from an alleged altercation with his former personal chef, Jamila Adams, over a financial dispute. The verdict came after a brief trial in Dedham, Massachusetts, and Diggs was visibly emotional in the immediate aftermath before, reportedly, heading straight to the gym.

Not everyone has been ready to move on. Former NFL quarterback Cam Newton weighed in on his podcast 4th & 1, stopping well short of celebration. “Brothers, see, you saying, ‘Man, she tripping. Man, she crazy.’ No, no, no, brother — you were giving her the illusion that led to her delusion,” Newton said, arguing that Diggs bore responsibility for the circumstances that led to the situation. “We have to hold Mr. Diggs accountable, too. You cannot keep leading these women on.” Diggs, for his part, has said he went to bed after returning home that night and did not assault anyone.

Diggs also has a separate civil case ongoing, filed by a man named Christopher Blake Griffith, who claims Diggs drugged and assaulted him after a basketball game in 2023. Diggs denies those claims, and has pushed back on a request to hand over documents related to his NFL contract, arguing his football income isn’t relevant since he’s not claiming any loss of earnings in that case.

What’s Next for Diggs — On and Off the Field

With the criminal case behind him, the wide receiver market is officially open for business. Diggs remains a free agent after the New England Patriots released him in March, freeing up more than $20 million in cap space. He’d signed a three-year, $60 million deal with them the prior offseason and delivered — 85 catches, 1,045 yards, and four touchdowns while coming off an ACL tear, helping New England reach Super Bowl LX.

He made his intentions crystal clear on Instagram this week, posting a highlight reel with a pointed caption: “This is not an opinion-based sport, so here are the numbers. I played 52% of the snaps and finished with 85 catches for 1,045 yards coming off an ACL. Where we going?”

The comments section turned into a recruiting pitch. Patriots cornerback Christian Gonzalez replied simply: “To the Pats.” Defensive tackle Milton Williams dropped an eyes emoji. Edge rusher Bradyn Swinson told him to “bring yo ass back.” Even former teammate Anfernee Jennings, now with the New Orleans Saints, got in on it, while Jaylinn Hawkins made a pitch for Baltimore.

A Patriots return looks like a long shot on paper — New England signed Romeo Doubs to a four-year, $68 million deal this offseason and is widely expected to acquire A.J. Brown from Philadelphia. But the Minnesota Vikings, where Diggs first became a star and delivered the iconic “Minneapolis Miracle” playoff touchdown in 2017, have emerged as a genuine possibility. ESPN analyst Aaron Schatz recently flagged receiver depth as the Vikings’ biggest remaining roster hole, and with Jalen Nailor gone to Las Vegas and no wideouts added in the draft, the need is real. Former NFL player Mark Schlereth put it plainly on the Stinkin’ Truth podcast: “He was the consummate professional for New England… he would be a guy that would come in and elevate your receiving room without question.” Schlereth’s suggestion? A mid-June signing, once teams have had a chance to evaluate their younger options through OTAs.

The Houston Texans, where Diggs played eight games in 2024 before his ACL tear, are another name in the mix — though his price tag could be a sticking point given Houston’s already-heavy offseason spending.

As for Cardi and Diggs — no confirmation, no denial, just a cheek kiss and a hand on the chest at a Mother’s Day event in D.C. Sometimes that’s enough to keep everyone watching.
