BTS are back — and they’re taking everything with them.

The South Korean megagroup won Artist of the Year at the 2026 American Music Awards on Monday night, capping a triumphant return to the AMAs stage with a sweep of all three categories they were nominated in. They also took Song of the Summer for “Swim” and Best Male K-Pop Artist, opening the show with a pretaped performance from their Arirang World Tour at Allegiant Stadium before storming the stage live midway through the telecast.

“Everyone is belting out their songs during commercial breaks,” Yahoo’s Taryn Ryder reported from inside the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. “I don’t know the last time I’ve seen anything like this at an awards show.”

Cardi B Made History

The Bronx rapper swept hip-hop clean. Cardi B won Best Female Hip-Hop Artist, Best Hip-Hop Song for “ErrTime,” and Best Hip-Hop Album for Am I The Drama? — her long-awaited sophomore album that debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 after seven years of fans waiting. With three Best Hip-Hop Song wins across her career, she’s now the most decorated rapper in AMA hip-hop song history.

Kendrick Lamar took Best Male Hip-Hop Artist off the strength of GNX, and SZA won Best Female R&B Artist for the second consecutive year.

Sabrina Carpenter’s Pop Coronation

Sabrina Carpenter claimed Album of the Year for Man’s Best Friend, plus Best Female Pop Artist and Best Pop Album — her first AMA victories ever. The sweep demonstrated the fan connection she’s built over the past year, one that’s translated into genuine chart dominance.

Cardi B and Stefon Diggs gave fans a lot to talk about on Mother’s Day weekend — and not just because of the charity work.

The rapper made a surprise appearance at Diggs’ Diggs Deep Foundation Mother’s Day wellness event in Washington, D.C. on Saturday, May 9, and the two wasted no time reminding everyone exactly why people were rooting for them in the first place. Diggs dipped Cardi in front of a pink backdrop and kissed her on the cheek as photographers snapped away. Even after the cameras stopped, the energy didn’t cool down — Cardi was spotted running her hand across his chest, the kind of casual intimacy that’s hard to fake.

The verdict came after a brief trial in Dedham, Massachusetts, and Diggs was visibly emotional in the immediate aftermath before, reportedly, heading straight to the gym.

Not everyone has been ready to move on. Former NFL quarterback Cam Newton weighed in on his podcast 4th & 1, stopping well short of celebration. “Brothers, see, you saying, ‘Man, she tripping. Man, she crazy.’ No, no, no, brother — you were giving her the illusion that led to her delusion,” Newton said, arguing that Diggs bore responsibility for the circumstances that led to the situation. “We have to hold Mr. Diggs accountable, too. You cannot keep leading these women on.” Diggs, for his part, has said he went to bed after returning home that night and did not assault anyone.

Diggs also has a separate civil case ongoing, filed by a man named Christopher Blake Griffith, who claims Diggs drugged and assaulted him after a basketball game in 2023. Diggs denies those claims, and has pushed back on a request to hand over documents related to his NFL contract, arguing his football income isn’t relevant since he’s not claiming any loss of earnings in that case.

What’s Next for Diggs — On and Off the Field

With the criminal case behind him, the wide receiver market is officially open for business. Diggs remains a free agent after the New England Patriots released him in March, freeing up more than $20 million in cap space. He’d signed a three-year, $60 million deal with them the prior offseason and delivered — 85 catches, 1,045 yards, and four touchdowns while coming off an ACL tear, helping New England reach Super Bowl LX.

But the Minnesota Vikings, where Diggs first became a star and delivered the iconic “Minneapolis Miracle” playoff touchdown in 2017, have emerged as a genuine possibility. ESPN analyst Aaron Schatz recently flagged receiver depth as the Vikings’ biggest remaining roster hole, and with Jalen Nailor gone to Las Vegas and no wideouts added in the draft, the need is real. Former NFL player Mark Schlereth put it plainly on the Stinkin’ Truth podcast: “He was the consummate professional for New England… he would be a guy that would come in and elevate your receiving room without question.” Schlereth’s suggestion? A mid-June signing, once teams have had a chance to evaluate their younger options through OTAs.

The Houston Texans, where Diggs played eight games in 2024 before his ACL tear, are another name in the mix — though his price tag could be a sticking point given Houston’s already-heavy offseason spending.

As for Cardi and Diggs — no confirmation, no denial, just a cheek kiss and a hand on the chest at a Mother’s Day event in D.C. Sometimes that’s enough to keep everyone watching.
