His voice had changed. And rather than let the speculation continue, Coulier sat down and explained exactly what’s been happening.

“I haven’t posted in quite a while, and the last time I did, some of you said I look differently, and I sound differently, and I do,” he said in the clip. “What you’re seeing is the side effects of extensive radiation that I went through for carcinoma in my throat.”

He’s lost 45 pounds. He hasn’t been able to eat solid food in months. And the radiation has affected his ability to speak. “So yeah, you’re right on, with what you’re seeing and what you’re hearing,” he said.

Two Cancers in Less Than Two Years

To understand where Coulier is now, you have to go back to October 2024, when he revealed on NBC’s Today show that he’d been diagnosed with an aggressive form of stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma. It was a gut punch — but he fought through it, and by March 2025, he told Parade he was in remission.

Then came the second diagnosis.

In late 2025, Coulier learned he had HPV-related P16-positive oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma — a head and neck cancer found at the base of his tongue. He told Today host Craig Melvin in December 2025 exactly what that felt like: “To go through chemotherapy and feel that relief of ‘Whoa, it’s gone,’ and then to get a test that says, ‘Well, now you’ve got another kind of cancer’ … it is a shock to the system.”

He began radiation therapy immediately. And the physical changes fans have been seeing are a direct result of that treatment. Researchers at MD Anderson Cancer Center have documented how radiation for oropharyngeal cancers can scar or damage the voice box, resulting in a hoarse, raspy, or weak voice. Trouble swallowing — a condition called dysphagia — is also a known side effect, which explains the months without solid food.

Good News in the Latest Scans

But Coulier didn’t just show up to deliver hard news. He had something hopeful to share too.

“We got our PET scans back, and the prognosis looks good for both the carcinoma in my throat and the lymphoma,” he said. “We’re very pleased with all of that.”

His hair is starting to grow back. He’s been making artwork, doing creative writing, and working on AwearMarket.com, an online marketplace he founded to curate non-toxic products. Life, slowly, is coming back.

This update tracks with what Coulier shared during a live appearance on Good Morning America in February 2026. “It’s been a roller coaster ride for sure,” he said then. “I’m in remission with both cancers. And what a journey this has been.” He also used that platform to push something he clearly feels strongly about now: early detection. “I never wanted to be the poster boy for cancer, believe me, but now I feel like I can encourage people to get those prostate exams and mammograms and just talk to your doctors and get ahead of this. Because even though I’m in remission, I feel like cancer is always in the rear-view mirror … so early detection really means everything.”

The response to Coulier’s video was immediate and emotional. Kelly Rizzo, the widow of the late Bob Saget, left a comment that stopped a lot of people: “You are so very loved, Dave. And truly no one is stronger than you. God bless you wonderful friend. Wish Bob was here to make you laugh.”

A Second Cancer Diagnosis After He Thought He Was Done

The road here has been brutal. Coulier was first diagnosed with stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma in November 2024 and underwent several rounds of chemotherapy. By March 2025, he was declared cancer-free — a moment of relief that didn’t last long.

Just nine months later, during a routine six-month checkup and PET scans, doctors discovered an enlarged tumor. Coulier initially assumed it was a flare-up of his lymphoma. It wasn’t. The tumor turned out to be HPV-related oropharyngeal tongue cancer — a completely separate diagnosis. The American Cancer Society estimates that around 53,000 people are diagnosed with this type of cancer each year, and it can cause a persistent sore throat, hoarseness, earaches, and difficulty swallowing.

Coulier underwent 35 rounds of targeted radiation to fight it. In February, he appeared on Good Morning America to announce he was in remission from both cancers.

“It’s been a roller-coaster ride for sure,” he told GMA at the time. “I’m in remission with both cancers. And what a journey this has been.”

But Thursday’s video made clear that being in remission doesn’t mean the fight is over. The radiation left him unable to eat, stripped his voice, and changed his appearance in ways his followers couldn’t help but notice.

Good News in the Latest Scans

Despite everything, Coulier came to his fans with hope. His hair, he said, is “kind of growing back” after chemo. And the most recent PET scans brought encouraging results.

“We got our PET scans back and the prognosis looks good for both the carcinoma in my throat and the lymphoma,” he said. “So we’re very pleased with all of that.”

He signed off with warmth, even after everything: “I wish good health to all of you.”

That said, Coulier has been honest about the psychological weight of what he’s been through. Speaking to Today in December 2025, he put it plainly: “It’s emotional. It’s psychologically draining. I’m going to get on the other side of this. The silver lining here is that I had cancer, which helped me detect my other cancer. It seems crazy to be making that statement, but it’s true.”

And even with good scan results, he’s admitted he doesn’t feel fully free. “Cancer is always in the rearview mirror behind me,” he’s said.

How He’s Spending His Time — and What He’s Building

Away from social media during his recovery, Coulier has been channeling his energy into art and creative writing. He’s also been quietly working on something bigger: AWEAR Market, a non-toxic products store rooted in the lifestyle overhaul he undertook after his first diagnosis.

On The Kelly Clarkson Show in April, Coulier explained what sent him down that path. “I wanted to know, ‘Why did my lymphatic system crash?’ And I realized as I went down the rabbit hole, everything in my life was toxic,” he said. “My toothpaste, my shampoo, the garbage bags, the toilet paper, everything, skin cream, everything.”

His solution was simple — start small. “I said, ‘I need to change this, but how do I do it?’ It’s a pretty daunting task to change your lifestyle like that. So I changed one thing. I replaced my toothpaste. And I thought, ‘I put that in my mouth every day, I’m gonna start there.'”

He’s also been vocal about the importance of listening to your body. In an interview with Fox News Digital, Coulier credited his wife Melissa — and his own decision not to dismiss the warning signs — with saving his life. “I was taking a shower one morning and felt a lump in my groin area,” he recalled. “Had I not taken the step to call my doctor, at the urging of my wife — she said, ‘We’re calling now, and making that appointment’ — things would have been much different.”

“Cancer is working out in the background every day,” he added. “It’s getting stronger and stronger. So you have to be willing to put your pride aside and be a little vulnerable and go in and talk to someone who is an expert.”

His Full House costar John Stamos, who has been by his side throughout, said it best last December. “He’s Dave and he’s beautiful,” Stamos, 62, said. “It sounds weird, but if anyone would have to go through this, he’s a good one because he can really inspire and talk to the world and show that with good will and love, you can make it through.”
