Tony Hinchcliffe made a joke about George Floyd during Netflix’s The Roast of Kevin Hart, drawing immediate backlash

Lil Rel Howery posted a video calling the joke “disgusting” and questioning why the audience didn’t boo

The Gianna and George Floyd Foundation condemned the moment, calling Hart’s condoning of it “sad for the culture”

Tiffany Haddish, who was in the audience, says she missed the joke — and threw shade at critics who weren’t invited

This is the second Netflix roast in a row where Hinchcliffe has made a joke at Floyd’s expense

Lil Rel Howery has something to say — and he said it directly, clearly, and without apology.

In a three-minute video posted to Instagram earlier this week, the comedian and Get Out actor sounded off on Tony Hinchcliffe’s joke about George Floyd during The Roast of Kevin Hart, which aired on Netflix on May 10. Howery wasn’t at the event — he was filming a movie and missed the “Netflix Is a Joke” festival entirely — but once he caught up with the roast, he had thoughts.

He opened by giving credit where it was due. Regina Hall, Katt Williams, and Hart himself all got shoutouts. But Hinchcliffe’s moment at the mic? A different story entirely.

“What I am annoyed by, and I’m just keeping it one hundred y’all… I don’t understand, it’s one thing to roast the people that’s there,” Howery said. “It’s one thing to roast the people who may be in the audience. Roasting someone No. 1 that’s dead, No. 2 that’s not there, No. 3 that the implications of why you shouldn’t joke about that… Tony Hinchcliffe’s joke about George Floyd didn’t make f-cking sense to me. It was no reason to bring George Floyd into this. It was just disgusting.”

The joke in question came near the end of Hinchcliffe’s set. Praising Hart’s success, he said: “The Black community is so proud of you. Right now, George Floyd is looking up at us all laughing so hard he can’t breathe.” Hart doubled over laughing. The audience, by most accounts, went along with it.

That audience reaction — or lack of the right one — is exactly what got under Howery’s skin.

“The audience was OK boo’ing Draymond Green every time his name was mentioned. Y’all could boo! But you don’t boo Tony Hinchcliffe right after that?” he said. “I get it man, I’m OK not being part of this clique bullsh-t that’s going on in comedy. I 100 percent would have booed that muthaf-ka and probably walked out. That’s all I’m saying, y’all.”

He acknowledged that people can be overly sensitive sometimes — but drew a hard line here. “Why can’t we just agree that bringing up George Floyd in the way he did it was f-cked up and not funny and not needed? It wasn’t even needed! I ain’t like that sh-t.”

Floyd’s Family Speaks Out — and the Hurt Is Real

The backlash didn’t stop with Howery. Travis Cains, a spokesman for The Gianna and George Floyd Foundation, told TMZ that Hart condoning the joke was “sad for the culture” — and that Floyd’s family and friends are flat-out appalled that Hinchcliffe was invited back to another Netflix roast at all.

This isn’t the first time Hinchcliffe has gone here. During The Roast of Tom Brady in 2024, he told Rob Gronkowski he “looked like the final boss in George Floyd the video game.” The pattern isn’t lost on Floyd’s family, who reportedly view Hinchcliffe as having a disturbing fixation on using Floyd as a punchline — and who describe him as a “racist comedian.”

In their official statement, the foundation didn’t mince words: “We are trying to rebuild things for our community and make things better in our community. Let’s try to be a little bit more positive — and not sit up there doing colon inspections by white comedians.”

The hurt extends well beyond the adults in the room. Floyd’s daughter Gianna was six years old when her father was killed in May 2020. She’s now 12 — and according to the foundation, she’s been bullied at school in part because platforms keep making her father’s death into a joke. That’s the part of this conversation that tends to get lost when people debate the abstract merits of roast comedy.

Activist Tamika Mallory also weighed in on Instagram, writing: “There is literally NOTHING funny about how George Floyd was murdered. Allowing that white man or any other man to stand up there and disrespect Us, while laughing, is disgusting. Part of the reason Black folks continue to face SEVERE attacks against our rights, is because some of us think everything is sh–s and giggles. It wasn’t funny AT ALL.”

Comedian Loni Love and Melissa Fredericks — wife of Kevin “KevOnStage” Fredericks — also publicly criticized the roast’s jokes as “anti-Black” and unfunny. On Threads, comedian Franchesca Ramsey offered a more measured but pointed take: “If your perspective as a comedian is ‘nothing is off limits,’ that means you accept that some jokes will offend people. People not liking racist jokes aren’t ‘ruining comedy.’ People are allowed to not like things.”

Tiffany Haddish Has a Different Take — and a Pointed Parting Shot

Not everyone in the comedy world is on the same page. Tiffany Haddish, who was in the audience at the Kia Forum that night, told TMZ she didn’t actually hear the Floyd joke because she had stepped away.

“It was so much fun,” she said of the roast overall. “I think it should have been shorter; the show was too long. I didn’t hear the George Floyd joke because I had to pee so bad. I was a glorified seat filler and I was tired.”

When the interviewer brought up the comedians who’d publicly criticized the show — including Loni Love — Haddish paused, then delivered a line that landed like a punchline of its own: “Is this all comedians saying it that wasn’t invited?” Then she walked off.

Sheryl Underwood, who was roasted herself during the event — including a joke about her late husband’s death by suicide, delivered by Hinchcliffe — chose to clap back on stage rather than show hurt. Her response to Hinchcliffe was sharp: “Question for the day is, who has had more Black d–k in this town? Me or Chelsea Handler? The answer is Tony Hinchcliffe.” Afterward, she told TMZ Live, “Sometimes political correctness does not fit in comedy. Freedom of speech is alive and well, and it’s alive on Netflix.”

Hart himself posted a video defending the spirit of the roast format. “That, my friends, is what the f–k a roast is supposed to be,” he said. “It’s goddamn hard-hitting, relentless jokes of no consequence. Leave the emotions and the feelings at the front f–king door.”

The roast also featured a genuinely surprising moment — Hart and longtime rival Katt Williams publicly burying their feud on stage — and the star-studded audience included Usher, Teyana Taylor, Venus and Serena Williams, and Jennifer Lopez. But in the days since, it’s Hinchcliffe’s 20 seconds at the mic that have overshadowed everything else.

Howery’s final word on it was simple and stayed with people: “Everything isn’t comedy.”

Gianna Floyd is 12 years old. She goes to school. And somewhere out there, people are still debating whether her father’s last words are good roast material.

Pete Davidson called Kanye West a “gay Nazi” during The Roast of Kevin Hart on Netflix on May 10

TMZ obtained video showing Ye was in the audience with wife Bianca Censori when the joke landed

Kanye appeared stone-faced during Davidson’s dig but later clapped for Teyana Taylor and smiled when Dwayne Johnson took the stage

The joke referenced their 2022 feud over Kim Kardashian and Ye’s widely condemned antisemitic comments

West published a public apology in the Wall Street Journal earlier this year, denying he is a Nazi or antisemite

Pete Davidson did not come to The Roast of Kevin Hart to play it safe — and Kanye West had a front-row seat for all of it.

The Netflix special, filmed May 10 at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles as part of Netflix Is a Joke Fest and hosted by Shane Gillis, was exactly the kind of no-limits night the format promises. Davidson, 32, was among the comedians who took the stage, and when he did, he went straight for a familiar target. While roasting fellow comedian Tony Hinchcliffe, the SNL alum pivoted hard.

“Tony, nothing you say tonight will hurt my feelings,” Davidson said. “I was in a beef with Kanye, so I’ve taken shots from better gay Nazis.”

The line got huge laughs — including, reportedly, from Hinchcliffe himself. What nobody in that room may have realized in the moment: Ye was watching from the audience, seated alongside his wife Bianca Censori.

Stone-Faced but Present

Video obtained by TMZ shows Kanye from behind as Davidson delivered the joke. His reaction? Essentially nothing. No visible flinch, no laughter, no visible anger. Just Ye, sitting there, absorbing it.

He wasn’t completely unmoved all night, though. When Teyana Taylor — who famously starred in Ye’s iconic “Fade” video back in 2016 and has since become a Golden Globe-winning actress — surprised the crowd with a set, Kanye clapped for her. Taylor had said in a January interview with Vanity Fair that she wouldn’t be cutting Ye out of her life over his controversies, so the warmth there tracks. And when Dwayne Johnson stepped up to introduce Kevin Hart, Ye even cracked a smile.

The stone face was reserved specifically for Pete.

The History Behind the Punchline

For anyone who needs a refresher: Davidson and Ye’s feud ignited in late 2021 when Pete began dating Kim Kardashian. The nine-month relationship — which lasted until August 2022 — sent Kanye into a very public spiral. He went after Davidson relentlessly on social media, dubbed him “Skete,” and even appeared as an animated figure burying Davidson alive in the music video for “Eazy,” his 2022 collaboration with The Game — in which a claymation Davidson was kidnapped and buried. It was a lot.

Davidson’s “gay Nazi” line was also a direct callback to Ye’s spiral of antisemitic statements in 2022 and beyond, including a song called “Cousins” — later pulled from streaming — and a string of public comments that drew widespread condemnation. The fallout from those comments cost Ye major business partnerships and dominated headlines for months.

Hinchcliffe didn’t let Davidson off easy either. During his own set, the Kill Tony host landed his own Ye-adjacent shot at Davidson’s expense: “The closest Pete has come to greatness is when his d*** rubbed up against Kanye’s old c**,” Hinchcliffe said, as Davidson could be seen nodding along from his seat.

Ye’s Public Apology and What Came Before It

Davidson’s joke landed in the context of a much bigger, messier story. Earlier this year, Kanye published a full-page open letter in the Wall Street Journal, offering what amounted to his most direct public reckoning yet with his behavior.

“One of the difficult aspects of having bipolar type-1 are the disconnected moments — many of which I still cannot recall — that led to poor judgment and reckless behavior that oftentimes feels like an out-of-body experience,” he wrote. “I regret and am deeply mortified by my actions in that state, and am committed to accountability, treatment, and meaningful change. It does not excuse what I did though. I am not a Nazi or an antisemite. I love Jewish people.”

West said he had experienced a four-month manic episode that included “psychotic, paranoid and impulsive behavior” and that it “ruined” his life. He credited Bianca Censori — the same woman sitting beside him at the Hart roast — as the reason he finally sought help. “When you go into a manic episode, you are ill at that point,” he wrote. “When you are not in an episode, you are completely ‘normal.’ And that’s when the wreckage from the illness hits the hardest.”

The roast itself was a massive night beyond just the Ye subplot. Katt Williams showed up for a surprise appearance, squashed his long-running beef with Hart, and — because he’s Katt Williams — couldn’t resist slipping in some Diddy jokes while he was at it. The Greatest Roast of All Time: Kevin Hart is now streaming on Netflix, joining The Roast of Tom Brady in the platform’s growing library of celebrity roast specials.

As for Kanye? He hasn’t publicly acknowledged the roast, Davidson’s joke, or any of it. Whether that changes — well, anyone who followed the “Skete” era knows better than to assume the silence will last forever.

Michael Che was originally booked for the Kevin Hart Netflix roast but dropped out due to scheduling conflicts with SNL

After the show aired, Che posted on Instagram criticizing the difference between how Black and white comedians roast

He shared a photo of five white joke writers hired by host Shane Gillis, questioning the creative choices behind the special

The roast drew controversy for jokes about slavery, George Floyd, and crack cocaine made by Gillis, Tony Hinchcliffe, and others

The telecast actually had 17 credited writers, several of whom are Black — Che’s post only spotlighted Gillis’s personal team

Michael Che was supposed to be on that dais. The Saturday Night Live star was originally booked to perform at Netflix’s Roast of Kevin Hart, which streamed live on May 6 from the Kia Forum in Los Angeles — but he pulled out before the show due to scheduling conflicts with SNL, according to two sources involved in the production. He wasn’t alone, either. The lineup apparently went through significant reshuffling in the lead-up, with several last-minute additions and dropouts along the way.

But Che didn’t just quietly bow out. Days after the special aired, he took to Instagram to make his feelings about the show very clear.

“White guys and Black people joke different,” he wrote. “Black guy roast like, ‘look at this n– – shoes!’ White roasts are like, ‘Slavery, math, slain teens, sex crimes, slurs, family secrets.’ White guys don’t give a fuck about they shoes.”

It didn’t take much reading between the lines to figure out what he was referring to. Host Shane Gillis made jokes about Hart’s height that invoked slavery and lynching — the lynching quip, Gillis admitted, required “three weeks of deliberation.” Tony Hinchcliffe went further, delivering a George Floyd joke that drew immediate backlash online. Jeff Ross, Dwayne Johnson, Gillis, and others mocked Hart’s late father’s addiction to crack cocaine. Pete Davidson and Hinchcliffe both landed jokes that referenced — without saying — the N-word. And multiple comics, including Katt Williams, cracked jokes about Hart once attending a Diddy party.

“Nothing was off limits,” Ross told Variety the day after the live telecast.

Che’s Real Target: The Writers Room

The Instagram posts didn’t stop at the jokes themselves. In a second slide, Che went after the people writing them.

“Let’s do a roast celebrating the career of the most successful Black comic in the last 10 years,” he wrote. “I love that! Who should we get to write it?” The next image: a photo of five joke writers hired by Gillis — Nick Mullen, J.P. McDade, Mike Lawrence, Dan St. Germain, and Zac Amico. All five are white.

“C’monnnnnnnnn… that’s not funny?” Che added.

McDade seemed to take it in stride, resharing Che’s post — but only the photo, not the caption. “Don’t swipe,” he wrote.

It’s worth putting Che’s call-out in context, though. The full roast had 17 credited writers, and several of them are Black. The five men Che highlighted were specifically part of Gillis’s personal writing team, not the entire production. Other performers, like Chelsea Handler, brought their own writers — Handler even posted a photo with hers and tagged them by name. Comedian Madison Sinclair, who performed in the special, shared some of her favorite unused roast jokes after the fact.

Sinclair’s set also became notable for a different reason: she compared Hinchcliffe to Melania Trump — a line that referenced his appearance at Donald Trump’s 2024 Madison Square Garden campaign rally. That joke made it into the live broadcast but was quietly removed from the version now streaming on Netflix.

Meanwhile, Hart himself didn’t sit quietly in the hot seat. During his response set, he addressed host Shane Gillis directly and took a shot at the long-running Hulk Hogan racism controversy — a moment that stood out in a night full of charged material.

The special also featured Tom Brady, Pete Davidson, Regina Hall, Usher, Sheryl Underwood, Draymond Green, and a surprise appearance from Dwayne Johnson, who traded barbs with several people on stage. The whole thing was a follow-up to Netflix’s first roast in 2024, which put Brady in the hot seat with Hart hosting — that special earned an Emmy nomination for live variety special.

As for what comes next in the franchise, executive producer Jeff Ross is already thinking big. “A pop star or a rock star would be great. A rapper would be great,” he teased, floating names like Drake and Stevie Wonder. Interestingly, the Hart roast spot was itself a second choice — Paul McCartney was approached first and turned it down. “To me, that would be a fantasy roast,” Ross said. “Paul McCartney doesn’t need anything, but a Paul McCartney roast would be good for the world.” Will Smith’s name was also reportedly thrown around at one point.

Netflix and Che’s management had not responded to requests for comment at the time of publication. But Che’s posts are still up — and the conversation they started isn’t going anywhere.

Tony Hinchcliffe made a George Floyd joke during Netflix’s Roast of Kevin Hart, drawing widespread backlash

George Floyd’s family foundation is condemning the joke and blaming Kevin Hart for allowing it

Gianna Floyd, now 12, is reportedly being bullied at school in the wake of the ongoing jokes

Hinchcliffe has a long history of controversy, including a racial slur incident in 2021 and remarks about Puerto Rico at a Trump rally

The roast also featured brutal jokes about Sheryl Underwood’s late husband’s suicide, sparking additional outrage

George Floyd’s family has had enough. After Tony Hinchcliffe took the stage at Netflix’s Roast of Kevin Hart and delivered a joke about Floyd’s death, the Gianna and George Floyd Foundation is speaking out — and they’re directing much of their anger squarely at Kevin Hart himself.

Hinchcliffe’s line during his set was blunt and ugly: “The Black community is so proud of you… right now George Floyd is looking up at us all laughing so hard he can’t breathe.” The audience laughed. So did Hart. And that’s what’s cutting deepest for the people who loved George Floyd.

Travis Cains, a spokesman for the Gianna and George Floyd Foundation, says Kevin condoning the joke is “sad for the culture.” The family and friends feel Hart should have told Hinchcliffe to stay off that topic entirely — and they’re baffled by what they see as Hinchcliffe’s apparent obsession with making George Floyd the punchline. They’re calling Hinchcliffe a “racist comedian” and asking how Hart would feel if it were one of his friends who had died.

The foundation made their broader message clear: “We are trying to rebuild things for our community and make things better in our community. Let’s try to be a little bit more positive and not sit up there doing colon inspections by white comedians.”

What makes this land even harder is that Floyd’s daughter, Gianna, is 12 years old now. She was only 6 when her father was killed. According to the foundation, she’s currently being bullied at school — and jokes like this don’t make that any easier.

On X, fans echoed the family’s frustration, criticizing Hart for fostering an environment where, in their view, that kind of humor was not just permitted but rewarded with laughter. The image of Hart laughing at the punchline has been circulating widely and has become a focal point of the backlash.

This Wasn’t Hinchcliffe’s First George Floyd Joke

This is actually the second time Hinchcliffe has gone to this well. At the 2024 Roast of Tom Brady, he joked that Rob Gronkowski “looked like the final boss in George Floyd the video game.” That one drew criticism too. The fact that he returned to the same subject two years later — this time with Hart’s roast as the platform — is what’s pushing Floyd’s family and supporters from frustrated to furious.

Hinchcliffe is no stranger to this territory. The dark insult comic got his start writing for Comedy Central’s roast series, penning jokes for the roasts of James Franco, Justin Bieber, and Rob Lowe. He built a following through his close friendship with Joe Rogan, opened for him numerous times, and eventually relocated to Austin in 2020 to be part of Rogan’s comedy community. He hosts the popular “Kill Tony” podcast and has released specials on Netflix and YouTube.

But his career has been defined as much by controversy as by his specials. In May 2021, video surfaced of Hinchcliffe using an anti-Asian slur against comedian Peng Dang, who had just opened for him at a show in Austin. He mocked Dang with Asian stereotypes and called audience members “race traitors” for laughing at Dang’s jokes. The video went viral, and Hinchcliffe was dropped from his agency and lost multiple brand deals.

His response at the time was defiant. “It was so dumbfounding to me because it was a joke, and my stance is that comedians should never apologize for a joke, should never stop working if everyone comes after them and should never slow down,” he later told Variety. “In fact, they should utilize anything that happens to them for more material.”

Three years after that, Hinchcliffe was tapped to perform at Donald Trump’s 2024 rally in New York City, where he called Puerto Rico a “floating island of garbage” and made racist jokes about Latino, Black, Jewish, and Palestinian people. The Trump campaign distanced itself from the remarks. Hinchcliffe, again, did not apologize. “I love Puerto Ricans, they’re very smart people,” he said in a statement. “And I apologize to absolutely nobody.”

Despite all of it — or perhaps because of it — he was invited to roast Kevin Hart.

Hinchcliffe Also Targeted Sheryl Underwood’s Late Husband

The George Floyd joke wasn’t the only moment from the roast drawing sharp criticism. Hinchcliffe also mocked Sheryl Underwood’s late husband, who died by suicide in 1990, three years into their marriage. “Her husband committed suicide 3 years into the marriage,” Hinchcliffe said from the stage at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California. “I’ve been sitting next to her for 2 hours and I have to ask: how did he last that long?”

The camera cut to Underwood, 62, laughing in the audience.

Roast host Shane Gillis also took aim at the tragedy multiple times during the show, joking about bridges and the Golden State Warriors logo before telling the crowd he had called Underwood the day before and that she had been enthusiastic about the bit. Underwood has spoken about her husband’s death publicly before — emotionally and with real vulnerability — telling her The Talk co-hosts in 2018: “You will never know. For people who think they know. You’ll never know if it’s clinical depression. You’ll never know if it’s financial stress.” She also revealed he left a note, saying, “what the note does to the person who is still alive is, it shows that the person who is no longer alive has now had the final word.”

Her laughter in the audience didn’t stop the backlash online, where many felt the jokes crossed a line regardless of her reaction.

For the Floyd family, none of this is abstract. Their foundation has been working to rebuild community and create something lasting in George’s name — for Gianna, for the people who loved him, for the culture that mourned him. A 12-year-old girl is going to school and getting bullied because comedians keep making her father the punchline. That’s the reality behind the joke.

Pete Davidson called Kanye West a “gay Nazi” during Netflix’s The Roast of Kevin Hart on Sunday night

The joke revived Davidson’s infamous feud with West, who relentlessly mocked him during his relationship with Kim Kardashian in 2022

Davidson also made a brutal joke referencing the assassination of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk

Tom Brady crashed the roast for surprise revenge after Hart hosted his own Netflix roast last year

The special is now streaming on Netflix, filmed at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles

Pete Davidson showed up to roast Kevin Hart on Sunday night and walked away having torched pretty much everyone else in the room too — including Kanye West, a man who wasn’t even there.

Netflix’s The Roast of Kevin Hart, filmed at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, was everything you’d expect from a celebrity roast: relentless height jokes, a few genuinely shocking moments, and one comedian who clearly came to play. Davidson, 32, was that comedian. While taking aim at fellow roaster Tony Hinchcliffe — the Kill Tony host who made headlines last fall for cracking offensive jokes about Puerto Rico at a Donald Trump rally — Davidson delivered what became the night’s most talked-about line.

“Tony, nothing you say tonight will hurt my feelings,” Davidson said. “I was in a beef with Kanye, so I’ve taken shots from better gay Nazis.”

The crowd’s reaction was exactly what you’d expect. Davidson leaned into it.

“Oh, you don’t know me?”

He wasn’t done with Hinchcliffe either. “Tony is here looking like both a child molester and the doll they give the child to show where he touched them,” Davidson said, before adding, “Tony reminds me of Charlie Kirk, in that he’s definitely been on camera letting a guy unload in his throat.” Then, almost gleefully: “Kill Tony. Please, someone f**king kill Tony.”

The Kanye Line That Stopped the Room

The Kanye West reference hit differently. Davidson and West’s feud is well-documented — during Davidson’s nine-month relationship with Kim Kardashian, which ran from November 2021 to August 2022, West made the comedian a recurring target on social media, mockingly calling him “Skete” and posting music videos depicting violence against him. A source close to Davidson told Page Six at the time that the former SNL star was “ignoring all of the Kanye hate out of respect for Kim.”

The “gay Nazi” dig lands in a very specific context. West, 48, spent years making antisemitic statements that got him dropped from major brand partnerships including Adidas, Balenciaga and Gap. Then in 2025, he publicly proclaimed his love for Adolf Hitler, called himself a Nazi, and promoted swastika merchandise on his Yeezy website. Earlier this year, he took out a full-page ad in the Wall Street Journal to apologize, writing that he is “not a Nazi or an antisemite” and attributing his behavior to a four-month manic episode tied to his bipolar disorder. “I regret and am deeply mortified by my actions in that state, and am committed to accountability, treatment, and meaningful change,” West wrote. “It does not excuse what I did though.”

West has not publicly responded to being name-dropped at the roast.

Davidson wasn’t the only one who brought up West during the night. Hinchcliffe had already taken his own shot before Davidson even hit the stage: “The closest Pete has come to greatness is when his d*** rubbed up against Kanye’s old c**,” Hinchcliffe said — and Davidson, watching from his seat, was seen nodding his head.

Hart Gets What’s Coming to Him

Of course, the whole night was technically about Kevin Hart, and the roasters made sure he felt it. Lizzo delivered one of the evening’s sharpest lines: “Kevin and I are both mocked for our size, and we share that pain. But I can lose weight — you can’t get taller!” Dwayne Johnson went for a different kind of humor: “I love you, yes, I do. Just to prove it, just last week, I got a Kevin Hart tattoo on my cock. Yeah, life-size too.”

Katt Williams went somewhere darker. “Just because Kevin went to Diddy parties does not mean he did something wrong,” Williams said. “The fact that he gets all quiet when you bring it up — that means he did something wrong.”

But the biggest surprise of the night was Tom Brady, who Hart had roasted on Netflix just last year. Brady crashed the stage clearly relishing every second of his revenge tour.

“Have you even left the Forum, or have you just been here screaming into that mic the last two years waiting for daddy to come home?” Brady said. “Well, unlike your real dad, I actually showed up.”

Brady also gifted Hart a newborn-sized jersey of Knicks star Jalen Brunson — arriving just hours after the Knicks finished sweeping Hart’s beloved Philadelphia 76ers in the NBA playoffs. And he didn’t let Hart’s well-known Vegas cheating scandal slide either, joking about his “affairs in Las Vegas” before shrugging it off: “I think I broke another rule. Fuck it. I talked about it.”

The Kirk joke Davidson made will likely generate the most conversation in the days ahead. Kirk, the conservative commentator and Turning Point USA founder, was fatally shot in September 2025 while speaking at Utah Valley University. He was 31. Joking about a real person’s assassination — even in a roast context — is the kind of thing that tends to follow a comedian around, and Davidson had to know that when he said it.

Then again, this is Pete Davidson. Knowing exactly how far is too far — and going there anyway — has always kind of been the whole thing.

The Roast of Kevin Hart is streaming now on Netflix.

Katt Williams appeared as a surprise guest at The Roast of Kevin Hart on Netflix, live from the Kia Forum in Los Angeles on May 10.

Williams joked that Kevin Hart attending “Diddy parties” only becomes a problem because Hart “gets all quiet when you bring it up.”

Williams and Hart publicly squashed their years-long feud with a handshake and a hug on live television.

Pete Davidson also took the stage and called Kanye West a “better gay Nazi” while firing shots at Tony Hinchcliffe.

The roast served as the grand finale of the 2026 Netflix Is A Joke Fest, hosted by Shane Gillis.

Katt Williams walked into The Roast of Kevin Hart on Sunday night as a surprise guest — and immediately made it the most talked-about moment of the whole show. The comedian, 54, wasted no time going for the jugular, dropping a pointed joke about Sean “Diddy” Combs that had the Kia Forum crowd roaring and social media doing the most.

“Just because Kevin went to Diddy parties does not mean he did something wrong,” Williams quipped. Then came the kicker: “The fact he gets all quiet when you bring it up… that means he did something wrong.”

The joke landed in the context of Diddy’s very real legal reckoning. The disgraced music mogul is currently serving a 50-month prison sentence after being convicted in 2025 on two counts of transportation for prostitution. He was also fined $500,000 and handed five years of supervised release. During his federal trial — which ran from May through July 2025 — witnesses including his former girlfriend Cassie testified in graphic detail about sexual parties called “freak offs.” Diddy has maintained his innocence on all charges.

Williams’ Full Set: Part Roast, Part Reconciliation

The crowd didn’t know Williams was coming. When he was introduced at the Kia Forum, the arena erupted — partly because of who he is, and partly because of what his presence meant. These two men have been trading shots publicly for over a decade.

Williams opened with characteristic self-awareness. “I’m surprised they invited me. That’s how little star power you have. They had to start inviting your enemies. I said, ‘I hate him.’ They said, ‘Come anyway.'”

He kept the energy sharp throughout. “Kevin, I’ve won an Emmy Award, but this is going to be my best acting tonight as I pretend like you are a GOAT for the people at home. You’re wondering, why is the Katt man doing this for the money? Bitch, this is my Riyadh Comedy Festival, only one with a soul.”

On the old industry plant accusations, Williams leaned in rather than backing away — but with a twist. “Kevin, you gonna hear some things tonight that you’re not familiar with. Those things are called punchlines,” he said. “For those of you just joining us, Kevin and I have beef, and I’ll tell you why. Because, privately, this motherf***er stole everything from me. Before he saw my act, he was a 6-foot man. I tried to tell y’all that Kevin Hart was a plant, because I keep burying him. He keeps springing back the f*** up, just like a plant.”

He also took a moment to walk back — sort of — his old “Hollywood puppet” line. “Yes, I said some things I’d like to take back, some things I said were misunderstood. I did say that he was a Hollywood puppet, and I want to explain that because it might not be what you think. I meant that the head of Netflix literally has his whole hand up Kevin’s ass and can make him do anything.”

The Hug Heard Round Comedy

When Williams finished his set, Hart didn’t wait. He grabbed the mic and addressed both the crowd and his longtime rival directly — and it was genuine in a way roasts rarely are.

“Me and this man have been at odds for years on years,” Hart said. “You coming out here, quite the f**king surprise. But, Katt, I can sit and I can watch you, I can laugh, because I’m a f**king fan first, okay? I’m a fan first. Katt, we have an opportunity in real time. This is live television to put our f**king beef behind us. I am offering you an olive branch of peace. I want to be a brother. I want to be a friend, Katt. I want to move on. Can we move on, man?”

Williams walked over. They shook hands. They hugged. The arena lost it.

Later in the night, Hart made it official: “On a serious note, I love the fact that that man showed up tonight. I meant what I said: that beef is over. Katt and I are friends from today moving forward.”

For anyone who’s followed this feud, the moment carried real weight. It started back in 2014 with passive-aggressive jabs about Hollywood sellouts, escalated through Williams calling Hart a “Hollywood puppet” on his 2016 Conspiracy Theory tour, blew up again in 2018 when Williams dragged Tiffany Haddish into it, and hit a fever pitch in 2024 when Williams went on Club Shay Shay with Shannon Sharpe and alleged Hart had been an industry plant from day one — that he arrived in Hollywood already holding deals, with a sitcom and a movie before anyone had ever seen him sell out a comedy club. Hart’s response at the time was a quiet tweet: “Gotta get that anger up outcha champ… It’s honestly sad.” Two years later, they’re hugging on live television.

Pete Davidson Brings Kanye Into It

Williams wasn’t the only one making headlines. Pete Davidson, 32, took the stage and immediately made clear he wasn’t there to play nice — with anyone.

When Tony Hinchcliffe’s name came up, Davidson delivered what might have been the night’s sharpest one-liner: “Tony, nothing you say tonight will hurt my feelings. I was in a beef with Kanye, so I’ve taken shots from better gay Nazis.”

Hinchcliffe had already set up the exchange by going after Davidson first, joking: “The closest Pete has come to greatness is when his d*** rubbed up against Kanye’s old c**.” Davidson, for his part, was seen nodding along from the dais.

The Davidson-West history runs deep. During Davidson’s nine-month relationship with Kim Kardashian — from November 2021 through August 2022 — West publicly tormented him on social media, famously dubbing him “Skete” and posting videos depicting violence against him. Earlier this year, West published an open letter in the Wall Street Journal acknowledging his behavior and attributing it to a four-month manic episode. “I regret and am deeply mortified by my actions in that state,” West wrote. “I am not a Nazi or an antisemite. I love Jewish people.” West had no public response to his name being invoked Sunday night.

The Full Night at the Kia Forum

The roast was the closing event of the 2026 Netflix Is A Joke Fest, hosted by Shane Gillis and broadcast live from Los Angeles. The roasting panel included Chelsea Handler, Draymond Green, Hinchcliffe, Regina Hall, Sheryl Underwood, Jeff Ross, Big Jay Oakerson, and Na’im Lynn. Special guests included Tom Brady — who opened the show and came out swinging, calling himself a much bigger star than Hart and taking a shot at Cowboys fans — along with Usher, Lizzo, Venus and Serena Williams, Teyana Taylor, and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

One quieter but genuinely moving moment came from Jeff Ross, the self-styled Roastmaster General, who revealed that Hart had encouraged him to see a doctor — a visit that led to the discovery of colon cancer. Ross said he’s doing better now.

Hart’s wife Eniko was in the front row for all of it. It was Mother’s Day.

By the end of the night, Hart had rattled off a list of sponsors long enough to fill half the runtime, thrown some haymakers of his own, and closed out what turned into something more than a roast. The Katt Williams moment will be the one people are still talking about — not just because of the Diddy joke, but because of what came after it. Two guys who spent years taking shots at each other, finally done.

Tom Brady made a surprise appearance at Netflix’s The Roast of Kevin Hart on Sunday, May 10 at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California.

Brady returned fire on Hart two years after Hart hosted Brady’s own brutal 2024 Netflix roast.

Draymond Green sat on the dais and got roasted by Brady, The Rock, Pete Davidson, Jeff Ross, Shane Gillis and more.

Brady hit on Hart’s wife Eniko, made a dig at Hart’s 2017 affair, and called Cowboys fans bandwagoners — all in one cameo.

Green has a big offseason ahead, with a potential opt-out from his Golden State Warriors contract on the table.

Tom Brady showed up to Kevin Hart’s Netflix roast on Sunday night wearing all black and carrying a child-sized New York Knicks jersey — and he absolutely did not come to play nice.

Two years after Hart served as the gleefully merciless host of Netflix’s The Greatest Roast of All Time: The Roast of Tom Brady, the retired quarterback made a surprise appearance at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California for The Roast of Kevin Hart — part of the Netflix Is a Joke Fest 2026 — and delivered what might be the best cameo of the entire roast era so far.

Hart had set the stage himself. Before Brady walked out, the comedian was onstage telling the crowd he was going to be a way better sport than Brady was in 2024. “Tom is a bitch,” Hart declared. “Tom sat there the whole time with the fucking white man’s face. He was a fucking bitch. I ain’t no bitch.”

Then Brady strolled out from backstage.

“Jesus, do you ever shut the fuck up?” Brady said, cutting Hart off mid-sentence. “Have you even left the Forum, or have you just been here screaming into that mic the last two years waiting for daddy to come home? Well, unlike your real dad, I actually showed up.”

He then handed Hart the miniature Knicks jersey. “That’s newborn size,” Brady said. “It fits you.” He called the comedian a “fucking hobbit” for good measure.

Brady wasn’t done. He went after Hart’s legacy, his roast lineup, his Eagles fandom, and — in the most talked-about moment of the night — his wife.

Brady Goes After Hart’s Affair, His Eagles Fandom, and His Wife

“I’m a busy man, but I do have a few words for you before I return to my affairs in Las Vegas,” Brady said onstage. “Oh, wait, I’m talking about affairs in Las Vegas. Was that off? Not supposed to talk about affairs in Vegas? I think I broke another rule. Fuck it. I talked about it.”

The joke was a direct callback to Hart’s 2017 scandal, when he cheated on his then-pregnant wife Eniko while in Las Vegas — something Hart has since publicly acknowledged. Brady, who holds a minority ownership stake in the Las Vegas Raiders, knew exactly what he was doing.

He also went after Hart’s love of the Philadelphia Eagles, landing a double jab that got the crowd going. “It looks like we actually have some real Eagles fans here. Not like Kevin, who only shows up for the big games when the Eagles are playing well. You know, Kev, we actually have a name for those people. They’re called Cowboys fans.”

Brady went 7-0 against Dallas in the regular season during his career, so that one landed with full authority behind it.

Then he turned his attention to the roast panel itself — Shane Gillis, Chelsea Handler, Draymond Green, Sheryl Underwood, Big Jay Oakerson — and dismissed them entirely. “Who are these people and how did they get here? I thought they shut down Spirit Airlines.”

And then came the moment that made Hart visibly squirm. Brady spotted Eniko Hart in the audience. “Kevin, you took a lot of shots at my family in the roast. But I’m too classy to go after your beautiful wife. Or am I?” He looked right at her. “What’s up, girl?”

Hart yelled “Cut it out!” from his seat.

Brady walked off the stage with one final line: “Payback’s a bitch — and so are you, Kevin Hart.”

Draymond Green Got His Own Roasting Too

Brady wasn’t the only one with material on Draymond Green. The Golden State Warriors forward sat on the dais for the entire evening as part of the roast panel, which meant he spent the night absorbing jokes from basically everyone in the building.

Brady got the first shot in: “Draymond Green is here. For now. He’ll probably get thrown out in the next 10 minutes. You know we’re not roasting Steve Kerr, right?”

Kevin Hart kept it simple and surgical: “Draymond’s only here because he’s not in the NBA Playoffs.”

The Rock went a different direction entirely. “Of all the cool-ass Black names you could have, that is the laziest fucking Black name I’ve ever heard. Because all you did was put a D in front of Raymond.”

Jeff Ross went for the jugular on the Steph Curry dynamic: “Steph Curry couldn’t make it tonight, but he did carry Draymond Green all the way here.”

Pete Davidson asked: “Why do you look blacker than usual? Is it because you got burnt by the Suns?”

Shane Gillis had two good ones. First: “Draymond Green is the first player to make four All-Star teams for just setting picks.” Then the one that really cut: “Draymond Green has four NBA championships the way Ringo Starr has 11 number one albums.”

Tony Hinchcliffe went personal: “He has paid $4 million in fines. Did you name your daughter Cash because you plan on losing her anyway?”

By all accounts, Green took it well — though fans online joked they were half-expecting him to lose his cool. He reportedly fired back with a burn at Hart involving his own three-point shooting, which is very on-brand.

https://x.com/netflixsports/status/2053645768095879320

A Star-Studded Night at the Kia Forum

The show was hosted by Shane Gillis, with the full roast panel including Chelsea Handler, Pete Davidson, Jeff Ross, Tony Hinchcliffe, Lizzo, Na’im Lynn, Regina Hall, Big Jay Oakerson, Sheryl Underwood and Green. In the audience: Jennifer Lopez, John Stamos, Machine Gun Kelly, Seth Green, Tracee Ellis Ross and Jay Shetty.

Brady was noticeably more relaxed than he looked during his own 2024 roast, where he spent the evening absorbing jokes about his divorce from Gisele Bündchen, his crypto losses, and his relationship with trainer Alex Guerrero. Nikki Glaser had one of the night’s sharpest lines that evening: “Tom also lost $30 million in crypto. Tom, how did you fall for that? Even Gronk was like, ‘Me know that not real money!'”

Bill Belichick was also at the 2024 roast and gave as good as he got. “It was hard to butt heads with Tom because he was so far up Alex Guerrero’s ass,” Belichick said. Brady, in turn, got to dig into his former coach: “Everybody asks me which ring is my favorite. I used to say, ‘The next one.’ But now that I’m retired, my favorite ring is the camera that caught Coach Belichick slinking out of that poor girl’s house at 6 a.m.”

Sunday night was a different Brady — looser, sharper, clearly having fun. He’s been building his media presence since retiring, and between his Fox Sports role and his Raiders ownership stake, he’s found his footing in this next chapter. Sunday confirmed it.

As for Green, he’s got a big summer ahead regardless of how the roast went. The Warriors missed the playoffs this season, and Green could opt out of his contract and hit free agency — or sign an extension now that Steve Kerr has returned as head coach. Either way, the four-time champion gave the crowd a good laugh and walked out with his reputation intact.

Which, given the company on that stage, is probably the best anyone can hope for.
