Nicole Richie and daughter Kate Madden, 18, stepped out together at the Stop! That! Train! world premiere in Los Angeles on May 18

It’s their first red carpet appearance together in over two years — the last was April 2024’s Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead premiere

Kate, born Harlow Kate, has gone by her middle name since first grade; Nicole confirmed the name change earlier this year

Nicole plays a character called “Workaholic” in the RuPaul-led camp comedy, which hits theaters June 12

The mother-daughter duo turned heads with their fashion — and their striking resemblance to each other

Nicole Richie brought her best plus-one to Hollywood on Monday night. The House of Harlow founder stepped out with her 18-year-old daughter Kate Madden for the world premiere of her new film Stop! That! Train! at the Harmony Gold Theater in Los Angeles — and the two were practically impossible to tell apart.

It’s been more than two years since the pair last graced a red carpet together. Their previous outing was the April 2024 premiere of Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead, where they were joined by Nicole’s husband Joel Madden and the couple’s 16-year-old son Sparrow. This time, it was just the girls — and they showed up.

The Looks

Nicole, 44, went full boho-chic in a navy and white polka-dot floor-length dress paired with a matching headscarf, draping a white fur-trimmed coat around her arms like a cape. Kate went in the opposite direction — all edge — in a strapless leather minidress, knee-high black boots, and long, pin-straight extensions that gave her a seriously dramatic finish.

That hair moment was no accident. The sleek, extra-long straight-extension look has been having a serious moment since the 2026 Met Gala earlier this month, where Nicole Kidman and daughter Sunday Rose helped kick off the trend, followed by Amanda Seyfried, Katy Perry, Rosé, and Lisa. Kate leaned all the way into it, with inky, foot-long extensions that WWD noted may be K-tips — keratin-bonded strands installed with a low-heat clamp that typically last three to six months. Nicole herself went for a subtler version, keeping her bleach-blonde ends neatly tucked under that polka-dot scarf.

Between the matching dark hair and the unmistakable bone structure, the resemblance between mother and daughter genuinely stopped people mid-scroll.

About Kate’s Name

If you’re still getting used to “Kate Madden,” you’re not alone — but apparently the name has been in play for a long time. Kate was born Harlow Kate, and Nicole confirmed to PEOPLE in January that “she goes by her middle name,” adding, “she has her whole life.” Fans first noticed the shift when Nicole tagged her daughter’s Instagram @katemaddennn in an 18th birthday post.

Joel Madden, the Good Charlotte frontman and Kate’s dad, got a little more specific on Bunnie Xo’s Dumb Blonde podcast back in March. “She’s been going by her middle name since she was in like, first grade,” he said. “She chose it. She went to school, one day she came home — or we went to the open house night or whatever — and the teacher’s like, ‘Kate’s doing great. She’s so nice.'”

She stepped out at Coachella with friends last month, too, suggesting she’s very much stepping into her own public moment on her own terms.

What’s the Movie?

Stop! That! Train! is exactly the kind of film you’d expect from a cast that includes RuPaul, Ginger Minj, Jujubee, Symone, Brooke Lynn Hytes, and Marcia Marcia Marcia. The camp comedy follows best friends Tess and DeeDee — train stewardesses who ditch their dreary shifts on the Stank Rail for the glitzy Glamazonian Express — only to find themselves facing a catastrophic “Stormaganza” threatening to crash the high-speed train into Los Angeles. RuPaul plays President Gagwell. Nicole appears in the film as “Workaholic.”

The film was directed by Adam Shankman, who joined Nicole on the red carpet Monday night. It opens in theaters on June 12.

Nicole has been open about how much she loves this stage of parenting. During a 2024 appearance on Today, she said being a mom to teens is her “favorite stage” — that she can still vividly remember being 16 herself. “When my daughter’s telling me drama with her friends, I go, ‘I remember. Laila Heckmath did that to me,'” she laughed. “I remember first and last names. So it’s fun. It’s wild. And just the best.”

Based on Monday night, Kate seems to feel the same way about her mom.

Shania Twain hosts the 61st ACM Awards for the first time, calling it “the biggest gig of my life”

She hit the red carpet in a show-stopping silver Falguni Shane Peacock gown with a sequin panther and elbow-length leather gloves

Megan Moroney leads all nominees with nine nods, followed by Miranda Lambert with eight

Kacey Musgraves makes her ACM Awards performance debut, bringing tracks from her new album Middle of Nowhere

The show returns to Las Vegas’s MGM Grand Garden Arena after three years in Frisco, Texas

Country music’s biggest night is here, and Shania Twain is making absolutely sure you know it. The Canadian icon stepped onto the 2026 ACM Awards red carpet at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas wearing a silver strapless gown from Falguni Shane Peacock — beaded palm-tree embroidery across the bodice, a massive sequin panther prowling across the skirt, and dramatic elbow-length leather gloves with grommet details finishing the whole thing off. It was, in a word, a lot. In the best possible way.

Twain, 60, is hosting the 61st Academy of Country Music Awards tonight, Sunday, May 17, taking over from Reba McEntire and making her hosting debut at an event she’s called a genuine bucket-list moment. “This is the biggest gig of my life,” she told Us Weekly ahead of the show. “You can expect a lot of excitement, glamor. We’re going to be very glamorous here in Las Vegas. You can expect that this is the ACMs Vegas style.”

She also teased that the fashion was going to be particularly elevated this year: “There’s going to be a lot of beauty because there’s more women on the nominees list this year. So that always brings up the fashion a little higher sometimes, I think. So you can see a lot of really fabulous, high fashion.”

She wasn’t wrong.

The Red Carpet Looks You Need to See

Twain’s entrance set the tone, but she wasn’t the only one bringing it on the carpet. Michael Bublé, on hand as a presenter, went full monochrome in royal blue — suit, shirt, the whole look — topped off with a pair of patent crocodile leather square-toe boots that had just enough personality to make it interesting.

Tyler Hubbard kept it relaxed in light blue jeans, suede boots and a tan blazer, while his wife Hayley Hubbard more than made up the glamour difference in a strapless olive-green column gown by Alex Perry, complete with a corset bodice and an eye-catching satin knot at the waist.

Old Dominion — Geoff Sprung, Trevor Rosen, Matthew Ramsey and Brad Tursi — arrived as a group and leaned into a neutral palette that let each member’s individual style breathe without tipping into coordinated-boy-band territory. They’re nominated for Group of the Year tonight, so looking good as a unit matters.

Shania Twain’s Fashion Legacy — and Why Tonight Feels Different

For anyone who’s followed Twain’s career across three decades, tonight’s silver panther gown is just the latest chapter in a long and genuinely iconic fashion story. She wore a Marc Bouwer sequined white turtleneck gown to the 1999 Grammys the night she won best country song and best female country vocal performance for “You’re Still the One.” She channelled punk-rock energy in reflective black vinyl at the 1996 American Music Awards. She gave fans a rhinestone-covered custom Levi’s denim two-piece at the 2024 People’s Country Choice Awards — matching long gloves included — that was essentially country Barbie come to life. And her 2023 CMT Music Awards look, a red-and-black butterfly-print Prabal Gurung gown worn with a flame-red hairstyle, reminded everyone that she never really went anywhere.

The leopard print, of course, is its own chapter entirely. “For better or for worse, I just really latched onto it,” she told Vogue in 2020. “It was a favourite.” She brought it back for the 2022 People’s Choice Awards with a leopard-print hooded shawl over a sheer black dress, letting her then-pink hair steal the frame.

Tonight marks the 30th anniversary of her first ACM wins — she took home Top New Female Vocalist and Album of the Year for The Woman in Me back in 1996 — and she’s arriving not as a nominee but as the host, which somehow feels bigger. “I am representing our genre,” she told USA Today. “I am there to represent the talent, to make them feel comfortable. So I think I’m just going to have a really fun time.”

She’s also been candid about what this moment means personally, coming off what she’s described as an era of mental liberation. “I was always like, ‘I need to be myself,'” she told Us Weekly for their March 2025 cover story. “Any artist’s greatest power is originality. I was insecure about lots of things, but I had conviction.”

What’s Coming Tonight: Nominees, Performers and More

The night belongs to women — for the second year running. Megan Moroney leads all nominees with nine, including her first-ever nods for Entertainer of the Year and Artist-Songwriter of the Year. Miranda Lambert — the most decorated artist in ACM Awards history — follows with eight. Ella Langley and Lainey Wilson each have seven.

Twain has made no secret of her excitement about meeting Langley tonight. “When I first heard her song come out, I thought, ‘Wow, this is the real thing,'” she said on the Today show. “I realized how much I had been missing hearing that authenticity. Musically, production-wise, her voice, her lyrics. So I’m very excited to meet her.”

The performance lineup is stacked. Kacey Musgraves makes her ACM Awards debut tonight, performing from her newly released album Middle of Nowhere — and yes, she and Lambert have officially squashed their long-rumored feud, collaborating on a new duet called “Horses and Divorces.” Also on the stage tonight: Blake Shelton, Dan + Shay, Kane Brown, Thomas Rhett, Little Big Town, The Red Clay Strays, Jordan Davis, Riley Green, Parker McCollum (performing “Killin’ Me” with Lee Ann Womack), and all Album of the Year nominees except Morgan Wallen.

A few awards were handed out before tonight’s main ceremony. Jessie Jo Dillon became the first songwriter to win the ACM Songwriter of the Year award three consecutive times. Stephen Wilson Jr. took home visual media of the year for “Cuckoo.” And Avery Anna and Tucker Wetmore were named new female and new male artist of the year, respectively.

The show streams live on Prime Video, the Amazon Music channel on Twitch and the Amazon Music app starting at 8 p.m. ET.

Twain dropped her new single “Dirty Rosie” earlier this week, and tonight she takes the stage she’s been building toward for thirty years. As she put it: “Hosting the ACMs is a very, very big deal for me.” The silver panther gown says she already knows it.

Amal Clooney wore an archival Alexander McQueen gold sequined gown from the fall 2007 collection to the King’s Trust 50th Anniversary Celebration

She and husband George Clooney were among the first arrivals on the red carpet at Royal Albert Hall in London on May 11

The McQueen collection was titled “In Memory of Elizabeth Howe” and included references to the Salem witch trials

King Charles founded The King’s Trust in 1976 — it has since helped over 1.3 million young people across the UK and beyond

The star-studded event also drew Idris Elba, Lily Collins, Rita Ora, Rod Stewart, and Ronnie Wood

Amal Clooney didn’t just show up to the King’s Trust 50th Anniversary Celebration — she made a full fashion statement, and it was nearly two decades in the making.

The 48-year-old human rights lawyer arrived at Royal Albert Hall in London on Monday alongside husband George Clooney in a breathtaking gold sequined gown from Alexander McQueen’s fall 2007 ready-to-wear collection. The archival piece — which first hit the runway during Paris Fashion Week in March 2007 — featured a V-neckline, cap sleeves, and a sleek column silhouette covered in intricate gold embellishment with an Art Deco-style arrangement of sinuous lines and sharp angles. The hem nearly grazed the carpet, saved only by her coordinating pointed metallic gold pumps. She finished the look with a gold clutch, delicate earrings, and a bracelet, her hair styled in loose side-parted waves.

It was a masterclass in archival dressing — and the historical layers go deeper than most people might expect.

The McQueen Collection Has a Story of Its Own

The collection Amal pulled from is titled “In Memory of Elizabeth Howe, Salem, 1692” — a reference to the late Lee Alexander McQueen’s own familial ties to the Salem witch trials. The show was filled with visual motifs connected to that dark chapter of history, but the gold gown Amal wore carried its own cinematic energy. According to WWD, the gilded design evoked Elizabeth Taylor’s iconic 1963 film Cleopatra, from the ornate embellishment to the statuesque silhouette. Whether that was intentional or just a happy coincidence, the effect was undeniable.

McQueen passed away in 2010. His successor, Sarah Burton, helmed the house as creative director until 2023 before moving on to take the same role at Givenchy in 2024.

George, 65, kept things classic beside her — navy suit, white dress shirt, dark tie, and sunglasses — looking every bit the movie star he is. The couple arrived hand in hand, and were spotted sweetly holding hands as they walked up the stairs into the hall. One of the first couples on the red carpet, they set the tone for the entire evening.

The outing comes just weeks after the pair were photographed in St. Tropez, France, celebrating George’s 65th birthday.

A Night Worth Celebrating

The event itself was no small affair. Hosted by King Charles and Queen Camilla, the King’s Trust 50th Anniversary Celebration was held in partnership with TK Maxx and hosted by British presenting duo Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly. Performances came from Sir Rod Stewart, Jools Holland, and Rita Ora, whose gown swept the red carpet as she posed for photos early in the evening.

The guest list was stacked. Idris Elba, Lily Collins and her husband director Charlie McDowell, David Oyelowo and wife Jessica, Emily in Paris actor Lucien Laviscount, former British Vogue Editor-in-Chief Edward Enninful, and makeup mogul Charlotte Tilbury were all in attendance. Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood, 78, posed for couple photos with his wife Sally in matching sunglasses. The Traitors season four winners Stephen Libby and Rachel Duffy had a reunion on the carpet, too.

Lily Collins, 37, glittered in a strapless gown with minimal jewelry and her bob straight and sleek — effortlessly chic, very much in her element.

The King’s Trust — formerly known as The Prince’s Trust — was founded by Charles in 1976 when he was still the Prince of Wales, created as a lifeline for disadvantaged young people in the UK. Fifty years on, the organization now operates in 25 countries, supports young people between the ages of 11 and 30 with life skills, career training, and entrepreneurship programs, and has helped more than 1.3 million people — contributing at least £11.4 billion to society through its work. It has also recently expanded to the United States, with programs running in New York, Chicago, Orlando, San Jose, and Detroit.

King Charles spoke about the milestone in a video message filmed at Clarence House earlier this year. “When I began what is now The King’s Trust in 1976, I could not possibly have imagined the impact that it would have,” he said. “I am so very pleased and proud that The Trust’s work continues to go from strength to strength, having in that time helped over 1.3 million young people grow their confidence, continue in education, secure sustainable jobs and over 92,000 young people in the UK alone, having been supported to start a business, thus enabling them all to build brighter futures.”

The Clooneys had also attended The King’s Trust 5th Annual Gala in New York City last month, when Charles and Camilla visited the United States. Clearly, this is a cause close to their hearts — and Monday night, Amal made sure the cause got a red carpet moment to match.

London’s Royal Festival Hall was the place to be on Sunday night as the 72nd BAFTA Television Awards brought out some of the biggest names in British and international TV for a night that felt bigger — and more loaded — than usual.

Taskmaster host Greg Davies took the stage as this year’s host, opening the ceremony with a quip that “a quick AI search” revealed that television began when David Attenborough “first hugged a monkey” — a nod to outgoing BAFTA chair Sara Putt’s opening remarks, in which she wished Attenborough a happy 100th birthday (he celebrated on Friday) and declared that “TV isn’t going anywhere” despite the disruption reshaping the industry. Davies also gave a warm welcome to nominees including Colin Firth — mentioning, with characteristic deadpan, how attractive his aunt finds him — and Stephen Graham and the entire Adolescence team.

The ceremony, which aired on BBC One and iPlayer, is BAFTA and the BBC’s first major televised awards show since the controversy at this year’s Film Awards, when Tourette’s campaigner John Davidson involuntarily yelled a racial slur during a live broadcast appearance. BAFTA subsequently apologized “unreservedly” and an independent review found “a number of structural weaknesses in BAFTA’s planning, escalation procedures and crisis coordination arrangements” — including that early warning signs were not escalated and that no clear operational command structure was in place. The BBC has been quietly but carefully prepping for Sunday’s broadcast ever since.

Adolescence Dominates — But Has Company

Netflix’s Adolescence — the Stephen Graham and Jack Thorne-created limited series that became one of the most talked-about shows of the year — arrived at the BAFTAs as the undisputed frontrunner, carrying 11 nominations into the night. That haul includes five acting nods for Graham, Ashley Walters, Owen Cooper, Christine Tremarco and Erin Doherty, as well as a spot in the coveted Limited Drama category. The show had already picked up two prizes at the BAFTA Television Craft Awards two weeks prior, for director and sound.

If Adolescence keeps winning, it could be on track for a record-breaking BAFTA feat by the end of the night.

Hot on its heels is Disney+’s A Thousand Blows with seven nominations, while The Celebrity Traitors — the BBC’s top-rated show of the year — is up for five. In the Limited Drama race, Adolescence faces competition from BBC’s What It Feels Like for a Girl, ITV’s I Fought the Law and Channel 4’s Trespasses.

The Leading Actor category is one of the most stacked in recent memory: Colin Firth (Lockerbie: A Search for Truth), Matt Smith (The Death of Bunny Munro), and Taron Egerton (Smoke) are all in the mix alongside Graham. Leading Actress features Aimee Lou Wood (Film Club), Erin Doherty (A Thousand Blows), Jodie Whittaker (Toxic Town) and Sheridan Smith (I Fought the Law), among others. Both Doherty and Wood are each nominated in two separate categories.

On the international front, the nominees read like a streaming greatest-hits playlist: Severance, The White Lotus, The Bear, The Diplomat and The Studio are all in contention.

The Red Carpet: Who Showed Up and What They Wore

The arrivals outside the Southbank Centre were a full fashion moment. On the international side, Severance stars Adam Scott and Chase Sui Wonders made the trip to London, joined by Seth Rogen and Ike Barinholtz repping The Studio, and Paapa Essiedu and Jessica Gunning also walking the carpet. Matt Smith, nominated for Leading Actor, was there too.

Aimee Lou Wood went full vampire glamour — a buckle-adorned gown, black eyeshadow, and the kind of commitment to a look that makes a red carpet moment. Jodie Whittaker went the opposite direction in a bold red halterneck gown that worked perfectly with her copper bob. Amandaland‘s Lucy Punch brought tangerine energy in a fitted gown with white heels, while Erin Doherty kept it sleek in a black strapless gown with her hair slicked back.

Amanda Holden was pure spectacle in a grey tassel-adorned crop top paired with a mermaid skirt and a train — the kind of look that guarantees a front page. Claudia Winkleman, the woman behind The Celebrity Traitors‘ five nominations, surprised in her usual all-black but swapped the gown for capri pants. Silent Witness star Emilia Fox was elegant in bottle green with gold hardware, and Back to Black‘s Marisa Abela wore an appropriately vampy black Bardot-neck gown with a corseted bodice.

Three baby bumps commanded their own spotlight on the carpet. Vogue Williams, pregnant with her fourth child with husband Spencer Matthews, was radiant in a white lace-adorned gown with a new fringe. Scarlett Moffatt — currently expecting her second — hugged her bump in a chocolate brown dress with a dramatic asymmetrical cape, coordinating her earrings and cuff to match. And presenter Laura Whitmore wore a textured gown with a linen skirt and a pearlescent clutch.

Mary Berry, national treasure, arrived in a soft pink A-line gown and a double string of pearls — because of course she did.

Katie Piper, stunning in a mint green cut-out ruched gown, took a moment on the carpet to speak about confidence and self-image. “Comparison is the fastest way to disconnect with yourself,” she told HELLO!. “I’ve always thought that the ultimate body positivity is actually feeling neutral about your appearance… the neutrality of it doesn’t define you.” She added simply: “I’m not beautiful like her, I’m beautiful like me.”

Among the What It Feels Like for a Girl contingent, Alex Thomas-Smith arrived in a high-neck, glossy PVC black gown with a thigh-high split and gloves, while Adam Ali went bold in a sequinned jacket, wide-collared shirt and flared trousers with platform shoes. Former EastEnders star Shona McGarty brought drama in a strapless black tulle gown covered in sequins — and crucially, with pockets.

Love Island and Strictly alum Tasha Ghouri went for sparkle in a stone-hued maxi with a diamante-detailed tulle skirt, and This Morning‘s Ashley James dazzled in a rhinestone-corseted gown that pooled at her feet. James used her carpet moment to speak out on body image too, telling HELLO!: “I think the advice is to know that you don’t need to shrink yourself. It doesn’t make you more lovable or more confident. Your worth isn’t defined by your body.”

The 2026 BAFTA TV Awards are live now — with Adolescence already the night’s biggest story before a single trophy has been handed out.

Billie Eilish has officially hard-launched her relationship — and she did it in style. The Grammy-winning singer and her boyfriend, actor Nat Wolff, stepped out together on the red carpet Wednesday night at the Los Angeles premiere of her new concert film, Billie Eilish — Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour (Live in 3D), making it their first official public appearance as a couple.

The two smiled, hugged, side-hugged, front-hugged, and leaned into each other for the cameras at the Fox Westwood Village Theater — the kind of easy, comfortable body language that tells you everything you need to know. At one point, Wolff rested his cheek on top of Eilish’s head while she beamed at the cameras. A second shot showed them embracing and laughing, looking completely at ease.

Eilish, 24, wore an oversized emerald green Ralph Lauren polo layered over a white long-sleeve button-down, paired with a black pleated skirt, red crew socks trimmed in navy, and cream kitten-heeled pumps with ombré toes and sneaker-style laces. It’s the kind of look that shouldn’t work — prep, punk, and jock all at once — but absolutely does. Wolff, 31, kept it classic in a brown double-breasted suit over a white shirt, no tie.

They were joined on the carpet by Eilish’s brother and longtime collaborator Finneas O’Connell and his girlfriend Claudia Sulewski, her parents Maggie Baird and Patrick O’Connell, and the film’s co-director, James Cameron. The Avatar: Fire and Ash filmmaker co-directed the concert movie with Eilish, which chronicles her sold-out four-night run in Manchester, England last year and hits theaters on Friday.

Who Is Nat Wolff?

If you’re not already familiar with Wolff, here’s the quick version: he’s a 31-year-old Los Angeles-based actor and musician who got his start alongside his younger brother Alex on Nickelodeon’s The Naked Brothers Band, a mockumentary series about their lives as kids in a band. He went on to build a solid film career, landing roles in The Fault in Our Stars, Paper Towns, Stuck in Love, and Death Note.

He and Alex still make music together as Nat & Alex Wolff. And as of late 2024, that band had a pretty high-profile gig: opening for Billie Eilish on the US leg of her Hit Me Hard and Soft tour.

Alex Wolff, for his part, is probably best known to horror fans for his role in Hereditary. The brothers are a package deal in the best possible way.

How Billie and Nat Actually Got Together

The story of this relationship starts, as many good ones do, with a shared experience that cuts deeper than small talk. Eilish, Nat, and Alex all have Tourette syndrome — and that’s what first bonded them.

Alex met Eilish at an Oscars party in March 2023. “Billie and me and my brother, we all have Tourette’s. And I think we all have bonded over that,” Alex told Variety. “Even when I saw Billie on interviews, I said, ‘Oh, she’s one of us.’ We know all the ways that we try to mute ourselves or try and chill ourselves out or soften ourselves for other people, and how nice it is to not have to do that for certain people.”

Nat met Eilish separately at the Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles, where they also connected over their Tourette’s. By April 2024, the three of them were at Coachella together, documenting it on Instagram. That June, Nat starred in the music video for Eilish’s song “Chihiro” — a self-directed clip she described as representing the characters’ “inescapable connection.” Following its release, Wolff posted on Instagram calling Eilish “my (favorite) artist and (favorite) human” and praising her as “not only a genius singer and songwriter but also an amazing director and editor.” Eilish responded in kind: “One of my favorite videos I’ve made and truly one of the greatest days of my life. Nat, love you so much. Thank you for being a part of this.”

In a 2024 Vogue cover interview, Eilish called Nat and Alex “some of my best friends in the world.” Nat, in the same piece, was characteristically effusive about her: “She’s one of those people where almost everything she does, she does better than everyone else. She’s like, ‘Come see me ride my horse,’ and the teacher says, ‘You know, if she put all her energy into it, she could go to the Olympics.’ You just have to kind of submit to the fact that she’s going to be better than everyone else at everything.”

Romance rumors started swirling in March 2025, when Eilish and Wolff were spotted leaving the iHeartRadio Music Awards together, then bar-hopping across New York. Sources told Page Six at the time that they were “very affectionate.” Other sources pushed back, insisting they were just close friends. Then came June 2025.

DeuxMoi dropped photos on June 8 of the pair kissing on a private balcony in Venice — sipping Champagne, smooching, cuddling on a gondola ride through the canals. Wolff was photographed grabbing Eilish by the cheeks and kissing her, and snapping photos of her with a digital camera. The internet, predictably, lost its mind. An insider confirmed to Us Weekly shortly after: “Their friendship blossomed into a relationship. It’s going well. She’s smitten.”

The months that followed were quiet — no major sightings, no official statements, which is very much in keeping with Eilish’s stated approach to her private life. In her 2024 Vogue interview, she had been clear: “I’m never talking about who I’m dating ever again.” She’s spoken openly about regretting how much her previous relationships played out in public. “I guess I underestimate that things I say will be blown up into the biggest news of the whole world. That’s so unnatural. We’re all babies. We’re all little kids growing up and learning ourselves,” she said.

Then, in February 2026, the couple turned the Grammy Awards into a date night, photographed cozied up together at their table. Eilish also publicly supported the Nat & Alex Wolff self-titled album on her Instagram Stories. And then came Wednesday’s premiere — the full hard launch, red carpet and all.

In a 2026 interview with Interview magazine, the brothers reflected on what they took from the experience of touring with Eilish, saying they learned “how to be a world class artist with grace” and how to make fans “feel so special and beloved.”

The concert film that brought them all to the carpet together, Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour (Live in 3D), is Eilish’s third concert movie and her first since Happier Than Ever: A Love Letter to Los Angeles in 2021. It opens in theaters Friday. And up next for Eilish: she’s reportedly set to make her acting debut in The Bell Jar, Sarah Polley’s adaptation of Sylvia Plath’s 1963 novel, where she’ll play lead character Esther Greenwood.

But for now, she’s got a boyfriend on her arm and a movie opening this weekend. Not a bad week.

The first Monday in May delivered exactly what it always promises — spectacle, fashion, and more than a little drama. The 2026 Met Gala went off at the Metropolitan Museum of Art with a record-breaking $42 million raised and a theme, “Fashion Is Art,” that practically dared its guests to go big. Most of them did.

Guests arrived on a mossy-looking, trompe l’oeil cobblestone carpet framed by a backdrop that felt ripped straight from a Monet canvas — a deliberate, immersive nod to the evening’s artistic brief. It was theatrical, it was intentional, and it set the tone for a night where fashion wasn’t just clothing. It was statement-making.

The Moments Everyone Will Be Talking About

If there was one image from the night destined to live forever, it was Beyoncé walking those steps with Blue Ivy Carter — the teenager’s very first Met Gala. A mother-daughter debut at fashion’s biggest night doesn’t get more cinematic than that.

Rihanna and A$AP Rocky showed up and reminded everyone why they’re one of the most compelling couples in pop culture. Their coordinated approach to the carpet — always a study in controlled cool — felt like a masterclass in couples’ style without trying too hard.

Madonna turned the evening into a full girls’ night out, and the Kardashian-Jenner family came through as a unit: Kim Kardashian, Kylie Jenner, Kendall Jenner, and Kris Jenner together on that carpet was its own kind of fashion moment. Meanwhile, Nicole Kidman had a quieter but genuinely charming red-carpet beat alongside her daughter Sunday Rose — a reminder that the Met Gala’s best moments aren’t always the loudest ones.

The Controversy That Followed the Carpet

Not everyone was celebrating. Before the first limo pulled up, the 2026 Met Gala was already caught in a cultural crossfire — and Taraji P. Henson made sure no one could ignore it.

“I am so confused by some ppl that are going. I am just like WTF ARE WE DOING!?!?!?!” she wrote in the days leading up to the event. It was blunt, it was unfiltered, and it landed.

The source of the tension: Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez stepped in as major backers and honorary chairs this year, a move that drew sharp criticism from those who saw the symbolism of extreme wealth underwriting an arts institution as deeply uncomfortable — particularly given the current economic climate. A viral video from writer and commentator Meredith Lynch helped amplify the conversation, with Lynch raising questions about the museum’s decision to accept Bezos-tied funding and flagging the political implications of certain protest symbols being worn on the carpet. The post drew engagement from figures including Liza Colón-Zayas and Bella Hadid.

Behind the scenes, the guest list reportedly became something of a quiet battleground, with some high-profile names quietly opting out while others showed up as planned. For many, attendance was never purely about endorsement — it’s about tradition, visibility, and the kind of cultural influence the Met Gala still commands like almost nothing else.

For Henson, the pushback wasn’t surprising. The Oscar-nominated actress has consistently used her platform to challenge institutions and refuse to separate culture from consequence — whether she’s talking about pay inequity in Hollywood or mental health in Black communities. Her Met Gala callout fits that pattern exactly.

The Met Gala delivered its spectacle. The looks were there, the moments were there, the viral images were there. But in 2026, every entrance carried a little more weight than usual — and Taraji P. Henson made sure of it.
