Paris Hilton has been synonymous with platinum blonde hair for so long that seeing her any other way feels like a glitch in the matrix — which is exactly what happened when she stepped onto the Gucci Cruise 2027 runway in New York City on May 16.
The 45-year-old Simple Life alum traded in her famous light locks for a deep, almost-black brunette hue, worn long and silky straight with a fresh set of side-swept bangs. Fans watching online did a full double-take. Even Hilton seemed to get a kick out of it — she reposted multiple videos from the show to her Instagram Stories, captioning one simply: “Brunette Paris.”
The rest of the look matched the drama of the hair change. Hilton walked in a highlighter yellow long-sleeved dress with a pussy bow collar and full pleated midi skirt, featuring a spin on Gucci’s iconic horse hardware print. She cinched it with the house’s instantly recognizable green and red belt, added knee-high black boots, draped a fuzzy coat over one shoulder, and carried a bright red box bag. It was a maximalist Gucci moment from head to toe — and the dark hair made it land differently than anything she’s worn in years.
Her First Runway in Almost Three Years
This was no casual front-row appearance. The Gucci show marked Hilton’s first runway walk since she closed out the Mugler Womenswear Spring/Summer 2024 show during Paris Fashion Week back in October 2023 — making the return feel genuinely significant. The timing was notable too: the Gucci Cruise 2027 collection was creative director Demna Gvasalia’s debut with the house, and Hilton was right there for it.
After the show, she made sure everyone knew how she felt about the night. “Hit the runway for @demna’s debut @gucci Cruise collection,” she wrote in one Instagram Story. In another: “Such a magical night. Thank you @demna @gucci.”
The transformation is a striking stylistic pivot from where Hilton was just weeks ago — she’d shown up to a Barbie pop-up event looking every inch the iconic doll, pink two-piece and platinum blonde in full effect. The brunette runway look feels like a different chapter entirely.
Life Beyond the Runway
Of course, Hilton’s world extends well past fashion moments right now. She and husband Carter Reum are parents to son Phoenix, 2, and daughter London, 1, both welcomed via surrogate. In a recent Us Weekly cover story, she was refreshingly open about how much motherhood has changed her.
“[My kids] are my everything,” she said. “I’ve always wanted to be a mom and now [I have] these two little angels who are [so] fun, and sweet and smart.” She also gushed about Reum, calling him “so sweet and fun and gentle and an amazing dad.”
Speaking to InStyle last October, she went even deeper: “Being a mom has been the most incredible thing in the world. When I look at Phoenix and London, I see the future, and I want that future to be full of love, empathy, and inclusion.”
And she’s not slowing down professionally either. Hilton told Us she has a third album on the way with a full tour planned, a skincare line called Parívie in the works, and continued expansion through her company 11:11 Media — including a move into her own hotels. “I’m going to continue leaving my sparkle everywhere that I go,” she told InStyle.
Just maybe in a different hair color than we expected.
