  • Millie Bobby Brown posted a beach bikini selfie on Instagram that racked up over 1.3 million likes in under a day
  • Fans spotted a gold necklace bearing the name “Ruth” and immediately began speculating it’s her adopted daughter’s name
  • Brown’s late grandmother was also named Ruth, who passed away in 2020, adding another possible explanation
  • Back in August 2025, Brown was photographed with a phone case bearing the initials “R,” “W,” and “B” β€” now that “R” is looking very deliberate
  • Brown has said she plans to keep her daughter’s name private until the child is old enough to share it herself

Millie Bobby Brown posted what looked like a breezy beach photo dump. Fans turned it into a detective investigation.

The Stranger Things star, 22, shared an Instagram carousel on Saturday captioned simply “juicyyyy 🩡” β€” a sun-drenched collection of selfies, tropical imagery, and an underwater shot that felt tailor-made for a warm-weather scroll. She looked stunning: a textured pale yellow bikini, oversized hoop earrings, a colorful beaded choker, a gold waist chain, and layered necklaces catching the light. The post exploded, pulling in more than 1.3 million likes in less than a day.

But it wasn’t the bikini everyone was talking about.

Zoom in on one of those layered necklaces and you’ll find a gold cursive pendant that reads “Ruth.” And once fans saw it, the comments went from heart emojis to something closer to breaking news.

“Her necklace says Ruth! Baby name??!!” one follower wrote. “RUTH OMG,” said another. “Your daughter’s name is Ruth!!! So cute!!” chimed in a third.

The Clue That Fans Have Been Waiting For

Brown and her husband Jake Bongiovi β€” son of rock legend Jon Bon Jovi β€” announced in August 2025 that they had welcomed a baby girl through adoption. “This summer we welcomed our sweet baby girl through adoption,” the couple wrote in a joint statement. “We are beyond excited to embark on this beautiful next chapter of parenthood in both peace and privacy. And then there were 3.”

Since then, Brown has been careful β€” no face reveals, no name drops, no details beyond what she’s chosen to share on her own terms. At her 22nd birthday, she posted a rare photo sitting beside her daughter in the sand at sunset, the little girl bundled in a teddy-bear-style outfit as the two looked out toward the ocean together. “22. grateful for my husband and daughter. for my family and friends. all of my animals. I am so blessed,” she wrote.

So the necklace? It’s the closest thing to a name reveal fans have gotten β€” and they’re running with it.

There’s also a piece of retroactive evidence making the rounds. Shortly after the adoption announcement in August 2025, Brown was photographed carrying a pink phone case stamped with the letters “R,” “W,” and “B” β€” with “B” presumed to stand for Brown or Bongiovi. That “R” is looking a lot more meaningful now.

There’s Another Ruth in the Story

Before the baby name theories fully take over, there’s a significant alternative: Brown’s late grandmother was also named Ruth. She passed away in 2020, and the necklace could just as easily be a tribute to her β€” or, as more than a few fans pointed out, it could be both. Naming a child after a beloved grandmother you lost is exactly the kind of layered, meaningful choice that fits the sentiment Brown has expressed about family.

Brown’s rep did not respond to requests for comment.

What Brown has said β€” in a candid interview with British Vogue β€” is that she has no plans to put her daughter’s name or identity into the public eye until the child can make that choice herself. “For me, it’s really important to protect her and her story until she’s old enough to potentially one day share it herself,” Brown explained. “It’s not my place to purposefully put her in the spotlight unwillingly.”

She’s been consistent about that. But a necklace is a different story β€” something personal, something worn close, something that might just slip into frame when you’re living your life and not thinking about the internet zooming in.

The Inner Circle Is Already Smitten

One detail that did make it out into the open: Brown revealed at the Stranger Things Season 5 world premiere that her real-life best friend and co-star Noah Schnapp β€” who plays Will Byers on the show β€” is the baby’s godfather. “Sadie is very, very maternal but Noah’s her godfather,” Brown told Entertainment Tonight, referring to co-star Sadie Sink as well. “They all turn into the most gooey, soft versions of themselves β€” their baby voice comes out when they’re around her.”

Brown has also spoken about how deeply she wanted to become a mother young. “This has been my thing since before I met Jake,” she told the SmartLess podcast in March 2025. “I wanted to be a young mom just like the way my mom was to me. It’s so important to start a family for me personally.”

And on the subject of motherhood more broadly, she’s been thoughtful and inclusive. “We’re all mothers,” she said in a recent interview with Extra. “No matter if we’re adoptive mothers, birth mothers, or a maternal figure β€” everybody should be celebrated.”

Sun, Confidence, and a New Chapter

The beach post also appears connected to Brown’s beauty brand Florence by Mills, with several carousel slides featuring pineapples, coconuts, and palm trees from what looks like a tropical brand activation β€” which explains the “juicyyyy” caption in a whole different way. Some fans were quick to read the tropical imagery as a hint that “something is coming” on the brand front.

The photos themselves come at a moment when Brown has been visibly stepping into a more confident, unbothered version of herself. Earlier this year, she pushed back hard against cruel headlines that targeted her appearance during the press run for Netflix’s The Electric State β€” criticism that she said left her “crying every day” and even broke down backstage at the BRIT Awards before presenting an award to Sabrina Carpenter.

“If me being blonde or wearing more make-up really bothers you, I’m going to address it β€” not just for myself, but for every other girl who wants to try a new hairstyle or wear a red lip,” she said at the time. “It’s, like, get off my fucking case, you know? I am 21. I am going to have fun and play and be myself.”

She’s 22 now. And whether that necklace says Ruth for her daughter, her grandmother, or both β€” she’s wearing it in the sun, living her life, and letting the world figure it out on their own time.
