Reacher Renewed for Season 5 at Prime Video
Prime Video has officially renewed Reacher for Season 5 ahead of Season 4’s premiere — here’s what we know about the next chapter for Alan Ritchson.

- Prime Video has officially renewed Reacher for Season 5, well ahead of the Season 4 premiere.
- Alan Ritchson is confirmed to return as Jack Reacher; all other casting details are being kept under wraps for now.
- Season 3 drew 54.6 million global viewers in its first 19 days — the most-watched Prime Video season since Fallout debuted in 2024.
- Season 4, based on Lee Child’s Gone Tomorrow, wrapped post-production in March and is expected to hit the streamer before the end of 2026.
- A Neagley spinoff starring Maria Sten has already completed filming and is also in the pipeline.
Jack Reacher isn’t going anywhere. Prime Video has officially renewed Reacher for a fifth season, making the announcement ahead of its upfront presentation Monday evening — and well before Season 4 has even set a premiere date. It’s the kind of early green light that signals a streamer betting big on a franchise, and in this case, the numbers back them up completely.
“From Lee Child’s globally beloved novels to its standout on-screen adaptation, Reacher has evolved into a true powerhouse franchise,” said Peter Friedlander, Head of Global Television at Amazon MGM Studios, in a statement. “The series’ ability to combine high-octane action with compelling character storytelling continues to resonate with tens of millions of viewers around the world. We’re excited to move forward with a fifth season ahead of Season Four’s debut and to build on this incredible momentum. We’re grateful to our outstanding creative partners, cast, and crew — Nick, Alan, Lee, Skydance, and CBS Studios — for continuing to bring this world to life in such a bold and compelling way.”
The renewal isn’t exactly a shock — it was reportedly rumored weeks ago that work on a fifth installment was already quietly underway. But the official confirmation cements what fans have suspected: Reacher has become one of Prime Video’s most important original properties, full stop. Season 3 pulled in 54.6 million global viewers in its first 19 days, making it the most-watched season on the platform since Fallout launched in 2024. That’s not a show you let breathe between renewals — that’s a show you lock in.
What We Know About Season 4 (and What’s Coming Next)
Before Season 5 gets here, there’s still Season 4 to look forward to. Alan Ritchson confirmed earlier this year that post-production wrapped in March, and the season is expected to premiere on Prime Video before the end of 2026. The new chapter is based on Gone Tomorrow, the 13th book in Lee Child’s bestselling series — though it’s worth noting the show doesn’t adapt the novels in chronological order. Season 1 drew from Killing Floor (the first book), Season 2 from Bad Luck and Trouble (the 11th), and Season 3 from Persuader (the seventh).
The Season 4 logline sets the stage: “When a chance encounter with a distraught stranger on a subway goes horribly wrong, Jack Reacher is drawn into a complex and deadly game that pits him against ruthless foes from the highest echelons of power.” New faces joining the cast include Chris Marquette (Barry), Sydelle Noel (GLOW), Agnez Mo, Anggun, Kevin Weisman (Alias), Marc Blucas (My Life With the Walter Boys), Kevin Corrigan, and Kathleen Robertson (Murder in the First).
As for Season 5, the only confirmed detail is Ritchson’s return. Which Lee Child novel will be adapted, when it’ll premiere, and who else will join him — all of that is being held close. With 29 full-length novels in the series to pull from, there’s no shortage of source material. A late 2027 or early 2028 premiere window seems realistic if production can get moving in the near future.
And the expansion doesn’t stop there. The Neagley spinoff — starring Maria Sten reprising her role as Reacher’s brilliant and lethal ally Frances Neagley — has already completed its first season of filming. A premiere date hasn’t been announced yet, but it’s in the pipeline, and Prime Video is clearly building this into something much larger than a single show.
Reacher is produced by Paramount Television Studios and Amazon MGM Studios. Nick Santora, who also created FUBAR and worked on Prison Break, writes the show and serves as showrunner and executive producer alongside Child, Ritchson, Don Granger, Scott Sullivan, Mick Betancourt, Lisa Kussner, Sam Hill, Amy Pocha, and Seth Cohen.
Seasons 1 through 3 are streaming now on Prime Video. Season 4 is coming later this year — and now, so is Season 5.
