Clark Kent is ready to settle down. Lois Lane is absolutely not. And somewhere in between, a brand-new Superboy is asking too many questions. My Adventures With Superman is back — and the first trailer for Season 3 is here to prove it’s going bigger than ever.

Adult Swim exclusively revealed the Season 3 trailer through Variety, giving fans their first real look at what’s coming when the show returns on Saturday, June 13, at midnight ET/PT during the Toonami block. Episodes will be available to stream on HBO Max the following day.

The new season takes on the Reign of the Supermen arc — one of the most iconic storylines in DC Comics history — filtered through the show’s signature anime-influenced lens. Jack Quaid, Alice Lee, and Ishmel Sahid are all back as Clark/Superman, Lois Lane, and Jimmy Olsen, with Kiana Madeira returning as Kara Zor-El/Supergirl after her Season 2 debut. This time around, Kara steps fully into the core dynamic as she figures out her place on Earth — while Jimmy, apparently, is too intimidated by her romantic attention to think straight.

Meet Superboy — and the Man Who Voices Him

The biggest new addition to the cast is Darren Criss as Superboy, and if that casting feels poetic, it is — Criss previously voiced Superman himself in the animated film Superman: Man of Tomorrow. In the trailer, his Superboy is immediately chaotic energy, pestering Superman and Lois with a barrage of questions. It’s the kind of introduction that tells you exactly what kind of character he’s going to be.

Then there’s Cyborg Superman. Season 2 planted the seeds with Hank Henshaw (voiced by Max Mittelman), and now Hank has built himself a mechanical Superman body and the ability to control machines — making him one of the most formidable threats Clark has faced yet. Superman won’t be facing him alone, but the trailer makes clear this isn’t going to be easy.

What the Season Is Actually About

Adult Swim’s official synopsis lays out the emotional stakes alongside the action. “Clark has truly become Superman and made peace with his Kryptonian origins — he’s ready to settle down!” it reads. “But Lois, who has finally become the Planet’s star reporter, is NOT. Jimmy has evolved from freelance photographer to celebrity journalist — but he’s still intimidated by the romantic attentions of the newly arrived Kara Zor-El, who’s trying to find her place on Earth.”

“In our latest action, comedy, and romance-packed season, this found family will have to confront powerful new enemies that challenge Superman, threaten their future, and test the bonds holding them together. Can our heroes save their tomorrow — before it destroys today?”

Jake Wyatt and Brendan Clogher serve as co-executive producers and showrunners, with James Gunn, Peter Safran, and Sam Register also executive producing.

The Fans Are Already Sold

A recent poll from Superman Homepage asked readers whether they’d be watching the Season 3 premiere — and the response was overwhelming. 56% said “Yes, definitely,” and another 23% said they were probably in. That’s nearly 80% of respondents at least planning to tune in, which speaks to just how much goodwill this show has built in three years. For a series that launched as a fresh, anime-inspired reimagining of characters who’ve existed for decades, that kind of loyalty isn’t guaranteed — it’s earned.

And there’s more on the horizon beyond Season 3. A spinoff, My Adventures With Green Lantern, is in development for Adult Swim and HBO Max, following Green Lantern Corps member Jessica Cruz — who’s expected to make her debut in Season 3 before getting her own show. On the live-action side, Milly Alcock stars in this summer’s Supergirl, and David Corenswet returns for his Superman sequel Man of Tomorrow next year.

But first: June 13. Midnight. Toonami. Superboy has questions, Cyborg Superman has an agenda, and this found family has everything to lose.
