The night of March 4 was a lot more chaotic than anyone fully knew. Now, with the police report from Britney Spears’ DUI arrest obtained by Us Weekly, the full picture has come into focus — and it’s a hard one to read.

It started with 911 calls. Page Six exclusively obtained audio from two separate callers who contacted California Highway Patrol that evening, both reporting the same black BMW weaving dangerously through traffic near Spears’ home in Ventura County. “I’m reporting an erratic driving person,” one caller said. “It almost side swiped a couple of vehicles. It’s driving at high speeds. I’m worried they’re going to crash with somebody.” A second caller told dispatchers the driver was “randomly breaking in and out of the lanes” and had “almost side swiped three or four vehicles.”

The responding officer caught up to Spears’ car and observed it crossing illegally into another lane by “approximately” two feet on multiple occasions. She didn’t stop when the emergency lights came on. “[The subject] continued to drive in the #2 lane and did not immediately react to my emergency lights,” the officer wrote. “I activated the [police car’s] siren to get the driver’s attention.”

What Officers Found When She Pulled Over

When the 44-year-old pop star finally stopped, she was wearing what the report described as a “worn” green striped dress and purple sandals. The officer immediately detected a “distinct odour of an alcoholic beverage” from inside the vehicle. Then came the detail that’s nearly impossible to overlook: an empty wine glass sitting in the cup holder between the driver and passenger seats.

Spears told officers she’d had one champagne mimosa — seven hours earlier. Her most recent meal, she said, was ice cream at around 3 p.m. But the officer also found a bottle of Adderall inside her purse that was not prescribed to her. Spears herself disclosed that she had taken several prescription medications that day: 200mg of Lamictal, 40mg of Prozac, and 2.5mg of Adderall.

And then there was the quote. According to the report, Spears told an officer: “I could probably drink four bottles of wine and take care of you. I’m an angel.”

Not exactly the thing to say at a traffic stop.

The officer noted that Spears had “red and watery” eyes with dilated pupils, rapid and slurred speech, an unsteady gait, and was fidgeting with her fingers. Throughout the encounter, the report described “drastic mood swings” — shifting from “confrontational and agitated to flamboyant” — and noted that she spoke in a British accent at various points.

Ten Minutes Before She’d Get Out of the Car

When officers instructed Spears to exit the vehicle, she refused. She told them she had been “pranked and harassed” in the past, that she wanted to speak to her lawyer, and that she had “the right as a woman not to exit her vehicle.” It took about ten minutes before she agreed to step out.

Field sobriety tests didn’t go smoothly. Spears said the lights were hurting her head and declined to continue. “Spears was unable or unwilling to follow my finger throughout the test,” the report read. “Spears continued to move her head throughout the test after being instructed to keep her head still. Spears related that she was blind in her left eye, but was able to see my finger.”

She was then transported to the CHP Moorpark Office for a Drug Recognition Evaluation, and from there to Los Robles Medical Center in Thousand Oaks for a blood draw. At the hospital, the report says she told officers she needed to use the restroom — and once inside, “became argumentative and belligerent.” Officers placed her in handcuffs.

When the blood results came back, her BAC registered at .06 — below California’s legal limit of .08. She also passed two chemical breath tests at the precinct. But given the totality of what officers observed, the case moved forward anyway.

Rehab, a Plea Deal, and What Comes Next

In the weeks that followed, Spears’ spokesperson released a statement calling the incident “completely inexcusable” and saying Britney would “take the right steps and comply with the law.” On April 12, she checked herself into a rehabilitation facility. According to a source close to the situation, it was her sons — Sean Preston Federline, 20, and Jayden James Federline, 19, whom she shares with ex-husband Kevin Federline — who helped push her toward that decision. “They expressed concern about her recent behavior and urged her to seek professional help,” the insider said. “All they’ve ever wanted for their mom is health and happiness.”

She was formally charged with one count of DUI on April 30 — the same day she left rehab. At a May 4 court hearing, her attorney Michael Goldstein accepted a “wet reckless” plea deal on her behalf, a standard resolution in California for first-time offenders with low BAC levels and no crash or injuries involved. The original DUI charge was dismissed.

“Through her plea today, Britney has accepted responsibility for her conduct,” Goldstein said in a statement to the New York Times. “She has taken significant steps to implement positive change which is clearly reflected in the Ventura County District Attorney’s decision to reduce the charge in this case and dismiss the DUI. Britney appreciates this discretion and is also grateful for the outpouring of support she has received.”

As part of the agreement, Spears was sentenced to 12 months of probation and one day in jail — credited as time served. She must also complete a DUI education program, pay $571 in court-mandated fees, see a psychologist once a week, and meet with a psychiatrist twice a month.

For one of the best-selling pop stars of all time, it’s a road that still has a long way to go.
