On Wednesday evening, Spears arrived at the Sherman Oaks restaurant with her assistant and bodyguard. What happened next depends entirely on who you ask.

Entertainment journalist Jeff Sneider was dining nearby when a woman walked in wearing sunglasses. He didn’t recognize her at first. “The woman sat down and proceeded to make a lot of woofing or barking noises and just throw a lot of outbursts,” Sneider told Page Six exclusively. “It wasn’t really until she took off her sunglasses that we realized, ‘Oh no, this is Britney Spears.’”

Sneider, a 20-year veteran of entertainment reporting, alleged that Spears “kept standing up and sitting down and moving around the restaurant” throughout the meal. Sneider went viral on X that same night, posting in real time: “I am having dinner next to Britney Spears right now and it’s a WILD experience.” A follow-up post added: “She just left and everyone in the restaurant turned and started talking about it. An INSANE dining experience. One diner feared for her life. This is not a joke…”

Notably, Sneider said he did not witness Spears drink any alcohol during the dinner.

TMZ, which first broke the restaurant story Thursday morning, reported that witnesses described her as “raising her voice, screaming and even barking at times” in what sources called a “kind of sad” and “chaotic” scene. Surveillance footage obtained by the Daily Mail also showed Spears at a liquor store in Sherman Oaks with a friend earlier that same evening, before the restaurant visit.

Spears’ representative didn’t wait long to push back, and the statement landed with some force.

“This is completely blown out of proportion. Britney was enjoying a quiet dinner with her assistant and bodyguard. She was simply telling the story about how her dog was barking at the neighbors,” the rep said in a statement issued to multiple outlets. “At no point did she put anyone in danger with a knife. She was cutting her hamburger in half.”

Then came the part that resonated with longtime Britney supporters: “This constant attack on everything that she does and this is exactly what happened 20 years ago when the media tried to depict Britney as a bad person. This is ridiculous, and it needs to stop now.”
